A great place to rest whilst exploring Kenilworth.
Lots of choice on the menu
Clean and well laid out....staff very friendly customer service excellent
Average unfortunately.
We had bagels with variety of fillings.
No menu available with prices - have to ask for price depending on what combination of things you want. Seemingly extra pound for every additional filling - bit crazy. Maybe think of better pricing structure - eg look at Subway prices.
Bagel was quite dry. Would be better if it was fresher and toasted slightly/whole sandwich warmed.
Maybe improve filling options eg avocado, black pepper, extra virgin olive oil.
Side salad and crisps always a bit annoying in my opinion - just focus on making the perfect sandwich for a cheap price.
Would be better if cakes homemade, not bought in.
Table and chairs also dirty. Cutlery was some weird stuff with some copper-like coating that probably comes off over time. Other table items etc looked quite cheap I thought -box on table looked similar to one bought by housemate form amazon recently.
Say these things as constructive criticism - we will return if in area again to see what it is like.
EDIT FOLLOWING REPLY FROM CAFE BELOW:
Context: we came in late in afternoon at end of working day.
POSITIVES FOR BALANCE:
- 2 ladies seemed nice who served us
- location quite nice in centre of Kenilworth
- art work seemed nice - local and eco stuff that haven't seen much of elsewhere. Stuff that I would be interested in buying making myself
''It looks like you didn’t actually have a bad experience, you just didn’t like the simplistic and friendly manner of our Tearoom which is absolutely fine''.
TO CLARIFY:
Bad experiences as already detailed above:
- no visible menu pricing, requiring customer to ask about price of all options
- expensive pricing for bagel, adding on £1 for every extra filling as I was told (including bit of cheese/tomato/lettuce etc)
- dry bagel
- dirty table and chairs (remnants of food)
More-subjective criticisms:
- only limited filling options. These could be widened without creating extra smells/frying stuff (see my suggestions)
- bagel wasn't lightly toasted or warmed (as they often are to make less dry/prevent sandwich becoming soggy)
- crisps/few bits of salad around sandwich which I personally think are unnecessary and weren't very tasty - just plain dorito style crisps and plain salad
- bought in cakes: fair enough if they are from local baker, I'm sure they are nice. Just not quite as special/unique as making yourself was all I meant
- seemingly coated cutlery: seemed similar to when googling 'copper coated cutlery'. Definitely didn't seem seem like solid brass as suggested. Personally wouldn't recommend anyone uses coated anything to cook/eat food with - these coatings contain unknown chemicals, long term effects of which haven't been properly studied.
- box on table seemed similar to when searching on Amazon for 'bamboo box'. I'm sure some people like them but I think look bit cheap.
Maybe first review was a bit harshly written for which I apologise (I have made adjustments); this may have made you understandably quite defensive in your reply where you seem to dismiss almost everything - as new business like you describe would recommend you consider the justifiable points I have made.
Good toasted sandwich and coffee
Very good value for money
