To be honest I shouldn’t be even giving them 1star. Reported a break down at 12pm was told someone would be out at 14.10, wonderful but bearing in mind I had said the vehicle did need recovery and not roadside fix. The chap arrived at time, fair enough to be told it needed to be transported to garage. We waited and waited, around 21.30 we had a call saying they couldn’t take the vehicle and driver would have to find there own way home. Left stranded 2hrs from home .

Broke down in France on holiday! Within four hours, the car had been towed to a garage, diagnosed, part ordered and hire car sorted! They have been amazing. Would definitely recommend. :)

I have only given them 4* due to never having to use their services. If I did have to call them, then I would adjust my rating to suit. They are excellent value for money and quite a bit cheaper than the main 4. They are also rated highly by Which for 4 years running, so they can't be wrong. Their 3* plan offers a lot for just a little under £31 if you don't need Europe cover. They offer a 10% discount for each year you do not make a claim.

Brilliant service! I had issues with my phone and the app, but I called and spoke to Rachel who advised my rough ETA and from logging my breakdown to Jim from Cedars arriving, was less than half an hour. I had a follow up call an hour or so later from Callum (I think, sorry I didn't catch your name). Really impressed with the speed of service I received; from arrival to job-done was about 20 minutes. I've been a customer for a few years now and used the service a few times - have my cover on auto-renew. Thank you!

I had to use them this week when the clutch failed on the car when it was on the drive. The app reporting was so easy and notifications were great. I had to request a call back a couple of times as i had questions and to my surprise I was called back as promised by Lisa each time.
Because it was the clutch, the car could only be recovered to a garage of my choice and the company, J&K Autos, were brilliant too.
Great customer service. I would definitely recommend them to anybody.

Start rescue services are much cheaper than the big guys. AA RAC etc. They seem to use local contractors rather than having a distinct fleet, I think this works to their advantage. I've used them about 3 times over the last 8 years and they've always turned up very quickly, within a couple of hours, last time was 45 minutes. Excellent service.

First time we've ever had to use a breakdown service, in fact we forgot we'd got cover until my wife noticed the app on her phone. Anyway, the registering of the breakdown was extremely simple by using the app. The breakdown chap arrived as promised, he tried to fix the fault but was unable to. He then quickly and safely connected our car to his truck and we were off. Really polite sincere chap. Couldn't be more happy with the service, it was almost a non-event due to the service provided. Thanks

Got 3 star cover with StartRescue and had water leak and engine overheated in Bradford driving home to Essex.....after various spells put on hold I was told that the only thing Start Rescue could do was recover my car and take it to a car shop such as Halfords to purchase the part casuing the engine failure, even though it was torrential rain, I had my 80 year old father with me and had to ring around off my own back to find the part needed.

My policy should cover me for repatriation of car and passengers to home address but was told it was not possible as 'too far' and the only thing they could do was drive me to a shop. What if there wasn't any part available or there was no garage nearby to see to the car?

As I had no guarantee of when the recovery vehicle would arrive (ie before the shop shut), I ended up walking 40 minutes to it and then back. Luckily they had the part in stock and fixed the issue myself but this was due to a stroke of luck more than anything.

My concern is you are simply told recovery to your home address is not possible, however I took this level of service out as it specifically covers me for this.

Being told your scene of breakdown is 'too far' for Start Rescue to do anything is a complete joke and leaves me with no confidence whatsoever if I ever breakdown in the future.
