Auto Matt Garage: Volkswagen Specialist Petersfield

I was taken to Auto Matt by the RAC after overheating on the A3 coming home from Southsea. They weren't open but the RAC took care of booking it in the next day. I was duly informed that the car needed a new radiator but advised against it as the engine had developed a knocking noise. The car had done 239,000 miles. I ignored the advice and had them fit the radiator. I had only done 5 miles on the A3 when the engine noise became so loud I had to turn off and stop the car before the engine went completely. Auto Matt sent a vehicle to tow me back to their yard without charge and even gave me a lift to the station after advising me the best way to to dispose of the car and get some money for it. It didn't stop there, I took the car key with me and they came back to collect it from me. They showed great patience and care during all of this and I felt awful that I had not believed them about the engine. They showed care above and beyond and maintained their integrity throughout. If I ever break down again I would want to be taken to a garage like theirs. They were brilliant!

I've been using Auto Matt for many years now, once I found a garage I could trust it was a real relief! They've looked after several cars for me and always top notch work from a friendly team who go above and beyond for their customers. Doesn't hurt that they have really nice coffee and new courtesy cars either!

Following a routine oil service on our Discovery Sport, they pointed out that the brakes and front shocks needed changing on my car. This came as a surprise to me as I had recently purchased the car from a main dealer.

They expertly and successfully handled a warranty claim for me with the main dealer, and subsequently managed to get a claim authorisation for over 50% of my bill.

They went above and beyond to help me through the whole process. I’m also very impressed with the work they have done, and the flexibility they extended us in working around our busy family life, running our 4 children around!

A/C boosted and cleaned. Working fine again now and unpleasant smell has gone. Good, friendly service and competitive prices. Only issue was not sending me quote for new condenser, which they said they would do.

Excellent service from the team that managed to rectify my steering issues after I hit a rather large pothole whilst travelling at reasonable speed.

It is unusual to find ‘mechanics’ these days who actually know what they are doing rather than just following the prompts on the screen, and they clearly understand what they are doing.

Would I recommend them for four-wheel alignment and general steering issues? Absolutely!!

I recently had my MOT here and also asked them to check my battery and heater fan as was having problems with them. It turned out my car needed quite a lot of work. Justin the garage manager was brilliant at finding the best value parts to try and keep the price down for me. He also gave me and my 7 month old baby a lift home as I was going to be without the car for a couple of days. It turned out the car was fixed in 24 hours as he prioritised my car because it would be hard for me to be without it due to having a small baby and living out in a village. I cannot recommend Automatt enough, they are honest, friendly and did a quality job on my car. As a woman sometimes you get ripped off by these places but I felt I was treated with honesty and respect. I will only go to them in future for any car issues.

The windscreen wiper motor burnt out on my VW Transporter. The weather could not have been worse. -2 degrees , ice on the roads and the gritters out. You know what that stuff is like to clear from your screen. Auto Matt were stacked with work and said there was no space for 2 weeks. Seeing that it would be dangerous to use the van without wipers the team at Auto Matt asked me to bring it back at 4.30 pm when the working day had finished and stayed on at work to sort the problem. Now you tell me what other garage would do that? That is real service and customer care. Thank you so much guys. You have a new and very loyal customer now.
