Stumbled upon this little cafe whilst walking through Ongar high street. I had a really nice melted cheese & tomato bagel and a latte. The bagels were the non New York kind so soft and squidgy with barely a hole in the middle.
There are several tables inside and some benches outside.
The staff were very friendly and it was a nice stop for lunch/ a snack.
There were bagels and Nata on the counter and I would have bought some for takeaway but I wish they were covered up... they were in a basket in the open where customers talk over the counter to order.

Called in here not long before closing, so could only have a takeaway, but chose to sit outside and enjoy our bagels whilst they were just freshly made.
Ordered a salt beef, pickle and mustard bagel for my partner. Tasted the salt beef, and it literally just melted in my mouth. Add to that the slight taste of dill pickle, and I almost regretted my choice.
I chose a sausage and bacon bagel. There was enough bacon in there to feed a family, but, lightly salted, crispy and hot, the bacon was perfect. Under the bacon was 2 or 3 sausages (had to guessl due to the amount of bacon present).
Combined together, this bagel came a very close 2nd to the salt beef bagel.
Highly recommended.

A really good and friendly cafe, salt beef bagel was delicious, coffee was first class.
A lovely menu and I will definitely be going back

Just make sure that you visit early... If you go around lunch time, there's gonna be a line of people waiting, and I'm saying this in the nicest way possible, because everyone wants to try the salt beef bagel, or the cream cheese and salmon, or the sausage and bacon bagel... Great place for different things bagel!

Me and the family took a trip to Ongar today to visit the cheesemonger (excellent by the way) and see this little place on our way in. Thought was a nice looking place to take the two kids for a spot of lunch. All I can say is we left after sitting down for 5 minutes. Very unhelpful member of staff, told us to leave the pram out side. I asked for a high chair for my 1 year old daughter and was told that they think they have one, no one came to us or offered to get one leaving us just waiting at the table. I decided to walk up to the counter and try to order some food and did not get an aknowledgment from the staff, 90% of the menu was crossed out. I imagine the food would be really nice, but certainly not accommodating for a family. Real shame.

Great little cycling stop here for refueling and relaxing. Friendly staff, good for a nice little interesting chat. I had a good flat white and classic cream cheese smoked salmon (onion) bagel, which kept me going all the way to Welwyn Garden City. Very pleasant place to sit out of a morning feeling part of the high street scene for a while.

First time here was just closing but no problem at all to make me up a quick salted steak bagel

To the bikers they open 8am Saturday 10am Sunday. Great stopping place on your ride. Couple benches outside if you don't want to sit in
