Just wanted to say a big thank you for today. You demystified the whole starter process for me and introduced me to some great ideas for making sourdough loaves and pizza base. I’ll now explore how I can further develop these by adding seeds, olives etc...

It was a really enjoyable day - informative, practical and fun. Thank you.

My daughter and kids loved the still warm whole meal loaf which was lovely with butter and some of my homemade jam. I am looking forward to trying the rye one tomorrow.

I’ll certainly be recommending your training to anyone who wishes to develop their bread making skills.

After a Sumner of failures with trying to bake sourdough bread, it was with excitement that I attended the day long sourdough baking course with Southdowns Sourdough. I was not disappointed. Mark dispelled all of the many recipes in the wild and explained the process into one which is simple and straightforward.
The experience is not to be missed if you are intent on baking sourdough bread. The day long course sees you exit the door with two loaves baked from scratch (sourdough loaf and a rye loaf) with explicit instructions on how to proceed.
The journey does not stop there either. Mark is all to accommodating to answer any follow up questions and even gave me an extra hours tuition to ensure I fully grasped the process. Highly recommended.

We had an excellent time with Mark at South Downs Sourdough. Lovely B&B which we stayed at before the course, and was happily located in a lovely village with an excellent pub for food and beer. It was a Sourdough education, and we came home with bread, pizza dough and a whole new approach to baking.

Great time had as a couple and highly recommended

I bought this 1-day course as a present for my mum and we had the best time making multiple loaves of sourdough and learning all about the process. It was such fun and we went home with all the knowledge to make our own sourdough at home. Mark was a great teacher and it was a really lovely environment to learn in. I would thoroughly recommend the baking class!

A really enjoyable day spent with Mark who taught us the techniques of sourdough in a really clear and relaxed way.
We made our first wholemeal wheat sourdough at home with pretty much a perfect result. Delighted with our new found skills. Thank you Mark.

Simply brilliant! Mark hosted us in his beautiful kitchen, teaching in a very informative and engaging way. He ably demystified all the sourdough myths and answered our many questions. The day was such fun and we happily left with two loves each. We’re 100% equipped to go all out for sourdough at home.

A fun and very satisfying day at South Downs Sourdough making two different loaves and a pizza base - all of which tasted great.
Mark was very informative and clear in his explanations, providing knowledge not just of the how-to but also of the science behind the art of sourdough bread making.
With no previous bread making experience, I came away inspired, fully equipped and confident that I will bake tasty sourdough loaves at home.

Wonderful day making all sorts of sourdough !! Including starters and pizza dough ! Loved the little shop too so that I could buy the essentials !! The lunch was delicious and the day very relaxing .. would thoroughly recommend especially for those starting out on their bread making journey !!
