My recent service at my regular bakery was a shock. I was served by Tania @ coulglans couldson and was first horrified by her general sloppy service to 2 other customers. The customers left baffled at her slopping a spoon of pickle into the sandwich and then she said to the customer " I don't eat pickle, is that how it's done"
The customer left and then I was served.
My sandwich was the 3rd sandwich to be made with the same knife as the previous 2 customers. Tania also didn't wear gloves or wash her hands.
I was handed my sandwich by her grubby hands which were covered in different sandwich fillings. I paid and threw it in the bin.

Though id try something different for lunch today.
Paid over £5 for a meal deal that for sub standard BLT with bacon that was so thin is was almost transparent and a scraggy piece of lettuce. The "free" doughnut had minuscule amount of jam in it. Shop assistant was rude and miserable. Wont be returning. Over priced and sub standard.

I wanted a cheese and onion pasty, you know the type I use to get on the way to school back 16 years ago from coughlans

Instead what I got was some inedible disgusting vegan cheese (if you can call it cheese) and onion pasty

Oh lord, how the hell do you sell something so horrific!

Extremely let down.

Vile pasty, tastes like cardboard! And I mean the filling!

Most of the items I have bought from here have been good and tasty but I can’t get over the prices! A cinnamon Belgian bun is £1.90, a doughnut £0.90, a pastie more than £2.50, a loaf of bread is over £3 unjustifiable prices…that make me feel I’m getting ripped off. Customer service can be patchy but there are some lovely staff working in the branches. Also I don’t understand why they shut at 4pm just when the children are coming out of school and might want a snack for the way home…not that they could afford it though 😬

Overpriced rubbish. None of the sandwiches are even remotely decent. Stale, bland, flavorless. Their donuts taste like supermarket ones but far more expensive. Their coffee is atrocious too. Don't waste your time.

Bought a bacon savoury for £3.70 . First bite and i knew it was a mistake. This piece of overpriced "brittle" pasty had been kept in the hot counter for a few hours to long. Returned it to where it belonged - to the bin. Never going back...

Absolutely awful. Ordered a black forest cake for a birthday, unbelievably poor quality cake. It seems to me these are frozen cakes. The sponge was like rubber. I would avoid Coughlans for these things. It’s not what it used to be. I’ll be seeking a full refund. However a cake is the centre piece of any birthday… what a let down.

Nice, friendly staff - always a pleasure to visit. Their large bloomer is expensive (compared to the supermarkets), but it is the best tasting I have ever experienced, so I buy it.
It used to be a full-on bakers, with a large choice of bread and cakes, but now the range is much reduced: catering more as a take-away for hot food in sandwiches and bagettes. However, it seems to be a popular choice for local working people: probably it is a more profitable part of the business.
