Nothing but HORRIBLE costumer service. My accountwas blocked due to unknown reasons. Told by the horrible telephone banking service to go to a branch. At this branch I was told I needed to go to another bigger branch, due to a lack of personal. I regret having an account at this bank.

Be prepared to wait in a queue for 20-30mins. There is one staff member available during peak hours. I asked a member of staff if they had found a lost card. The man replied, you are going to have to wait for my colleague I am on lunch, abruptly.
This was an older gentlemen of Indian ethnicity, if you wish to identify him so that he can be trained accordingly on how to deal with customers.

Tried to pay in cheque I to my account. Member of staff shouted at me triple time asking what do I want to do. Gave me paper to fill in without any explanation what where and how. Rubbish customer service

Bad experience; the money I paid in the counter didn't apear on my account. Could not get to the bank as they are closed on Sat and I am working far from Balham the whole week.

I had a problem with my HSBC Secure Key pad, as the old one's battery had died, this meant I couldn't do online banking.
I went into the Balham branch, all the tills were taken, but Archana Uthayakumar called me into her office and after a few minutes on her computer, she had everything sorted out.
I am very pleased with the service I received.

All we wanted is to show ID for an application. There is only one staff member who can do this for us and no one can tell us when he will be free so we are told to come back Monday or go to Tooting.

Pointless waste of a trip.

I've always enjoyed visiting this branch: the staff are friendly and down to earth; they work as a team, with Suresh as the key point of reference, and I get the impression that he has a big influence in setting the tone. He has lots of experience, steps in when things get complicated, and makes time for you on the day and will arrange a follow-up. The whole set-up is about friendly service and straightforward efficiency: very refreshing.

On 2 out of 3 recent visits the 2 machines dispensing cash took the customers' cards. My own card, which is a new First Direct one, was not accepted by the payin in machine, and the man behind the counter refused to help. A crowded understaffed branch with what is in my experience unhelpful personnel. Long queues to counters.
