Pretty grotty place - I had made a reservation at another hotel nearby, but upon arrival was told their system had me booked in for the previous night and they could not accommodate me. They found me a room at Stansted Airport Lodge - which I had no choice but to accept at 10pm before needing to be at the airport for 4am!
The place felt very dodgy (I propped the chair against the door) and really unclean. Someone had used the soap in the bathroom. TV signal was so bad it was unwatchable.
Woke up to some bites on my legs, I dread to think what caused them. Thankfully I was only there a few hours.
Definitely would not stay here by choice!

On arrival in the early hours i was disappointed to find no towels in the bathroom.i had to wait until 6am for reception to open to go get some. When i actually tried the shower it could not be used as the shower head sprayed in every direction but the right one! Clearly broken, resulting in no shower at all! The room smelt like cigarette smoke was very unpleasent and had to sleep with the window open all night because of this.

Would not recommend even for a one night stop over.very disappointed

The rooms were very dirty and noisy and the stuffs were very rude. The towels were dirty and they did not change or make the beds.
One of the bed was being supported by a brick. There were stains on the bedside board and on the walls. There were insects on the roof. The floor was unfinished.
It was a nightmare would not recommend even to my worse enemy.

We found this hotel well under par. Had to get towels. They were being washed. So had to wait for about an hour. Room was very dated. Curtains were old, and needed new ones. Although the room was large, it wasnt very welcoming,
I wouldnt stay there again even if it was free. And the bathroom looked like it needed a new shower, and a complete makeover.

I've stayed in many places, some great some not so good. All I ask for is the basics. This didn't even deliver the basics. Toilet didn't flush, no hot water, 7 spiders. Room unclean. TV didn't work. I should charge them for fixing it in that room (27). Having complained a couple of times only to be told they're fully booked, at the third complaint of no hot water we were miraculously moved to another room (31). TV worked, Had hot water, after running it for a long time. But the room was dirty, 4 spiders, 2 strange looking insects. A cup that hadn't been cleaned properly, it was green inside! No heating, radiator didn't work. Used a portable radiator, the fumes and noise from it were horrendous. The bed was surprisingly comfortable. I definitely won't stay there again, and it's the first time I've ever said that about anywhere, and have requested my money back.

I am the old fan everything about planes, flying, gliders, parachutes etc so location of #Stansted Airport Lodge is great for me because from the hotel's yard you can see the Control Tower of Stansted Airport. By car -10 minutes. Bishop's Stortford -10 minutes. Train from Bishop's Stortford to Liverpool Street -40 minutes. And Hotel's Reception just wowed me, I love it! Plenty of small airplanes and other gadgets.

For a budget hotel, this was plenty good enough for a quick stay overnight. No bugs or mold like other reviews said, but I stayed in January. Water was hot and clean bathrooms. Bed was comfy, room was clean, but the appliances were a little iffy. Overall a good budget/emergency option.

I was expecting a family B&B - clean but pokey but sadly didn’t even get that. The place is no where near the airport and despite buses showing route to at 17.00 the buses told me they don’t go there so I ended up having to get a taxi. The man in reception was very helpful and helped me with my phone charger. At first glass the room seemed fine (room 34) and looked clean with the bed made. However when I first went into the bathroom I noticed spiders and then after returning to the room found more and webs. I also noticed smears on the wall and cracked walls I then went to get a cup of tea and found that all the cups were unclean, tea bags open and that even the plate they came on had a layer of dust on. So I chucked the water down the sink and was then hit by a horrible smell of sewage that spread from the bathroom to the room. The room was also supposed to have a tv, desk, wardrobe and had none of the above. The layer of dust and an obvious lack of real cleaning - I really felt that there might be mites in the bed and looking at the other reviews there seems a very high chance of this. I could also hear the other guest constantly coming in and out shouting. Felt so grossed out by the smell and lack of hygiene & uncomfortable I decided to leave and booked another hotel. Went to leave and the lighting on the stairs was so poor I also tripped down the stairs - luckily I caught myself but had I been elderly or with slower reflexes I would have seriously been injured. Frankly I’ve stayed in some horrible places but they atleast had the decency not to charge. Personally I’d have have preferred being put up in a tent outside for a night rather than this place.
