A group of us were playing golf at West Linton Golf club in July and we stayed at Rutherford House. Dawn and Doug looked after all eight of us very well. Nothing was too much bother. The house is gorgeous and the rooms were immaculate with lovely decor and a lush tartan carpet under foot on the stairs. The breakfasts were brilliant and Dawn catered for our every need. Her home made baking is lovely. We were made to feel at home in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I would certainly stay there again.

Positively perfect in every way: easy transport from the airport (super friendly, recommended by Dawn); warm welcome; *very* comfortable bed; clean, tidy, not overly-fussy. You feel special without feeling conspicuous. The house is quiet and peaceful, but with a heartbeat: families, couples, singles, everyone feels at home. The breakfast is spot on: Scottish, made to order. I loved the long, gorgeous walks in the hills on a road that was built by the Romans. Be sure to walk to the Allan Ramsay Hotel/Pub for haggis, neeps, and tatties; fish and chips; lamb--whatever is cooking will be delicious and the service kind and warm. Rutherford House is on a very convenient bus line so it's super easy to pop into the city and then escape to the countryside. Dollar wise, RH delivers value. But the real value is in the genius of the place, which will stay in your heart forever.

We have spent a wonderful autumn weekend at Rutherford House and very much enjoyed the friendly environment starting with a fantastic Scottish breakfast and ending with a good night’s drink in the cosy lounge. Particularly, we appreciated our friendly and super-informed hosts who helped with numerous great suggestions how to spend the day and always found a very particular place for dinner in Edinburgh. Thanks a lot, we would be more than happy to stay another time.

Really wonderful, a beautiful house in the countryside close to Edimburgh. Mrs. Dawn is really kind and careful to assure the best stay. Everything is tidy and the breackfast is great. An experience to be repeated!
