We stayed at the Butt Lodge for 2 nights in mid May. I knew I would love the place as we looked out upon a golf course with sheep on it from the lodge. We stayed in room 7: Laggan which faces the back of the property with a lovely view of the woods. The room was very quiet and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. We ate dinner one night with Mac (the husband) cooking. Meal was great and we brought our own bottle of wine to drink with dinner. Breakfast each morning was sooo much food and we ate till our stomachs were full before headig out to enjoy Lochranza for the day.

Fabulous setting and the accommodation and food live up to that. A good base from which to explore the island. We stayed for three nights but others had booked for just one night being on their way to The Kintyre Peninsula or north to Oban but regretted they had not booked more nights. Cath and Mac are great hosts and Mac’s cooking would not be out of place in a high quality restaurant. All in all a very good deal.

We only stayed 1 night but wish we had longer with them!
Location is absolutely beautiful. The room was very
spacious, modern and most of all comfortable. The en
suite as well was perfect with a powerful shower. We
really appreciated the little touches like a blanket in the
wardrobe if you just want a nap and the selections of
teas and coffee.
There is hardly any phone signal but we got 50Mbps WiFi
speed which was impressive to say the least.
Food was very tasty, especially the breakfast. I had the
full Scottish and my wife had the overnight oats, both
really enjoyable. The freshly baked croissants are a must.
Excellent lounge space as well for a late night game of
scrabble.
Mac(k) & Kath we're the perfect hosts. Felt like visiting
family.

Really lovely location. A rough road leading up to the house but plenty of parking.
Great location for the ferry on the way to Islay.
Attractive rooms, interesting artwork and a very good evening meal for £25.
10 mins walk to the bay where we saw an otter and heron at about 7.30.
One of the best choices we have made.

I love Arran and particularly Lochranza but this was my first time staying at Butt Lodge. I'd booked for a few days to celebrate my friends 40th and didn't realise our room was a wee suite with our own living room, which was brilliant. The food was great, the scrambled eggs and salmon for breakfast was delicious and I had the best dessert of my life with our dinner, whisky and pecan tart. I'm already planning to be back with my partner, he'll love that it's an easy walk to the distillery. Really friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

We had a wonderful stay at the Butt Lodge, with nothing to fault. Cath and Mac were excellent hosts, showing great interest, and making us feel very welcome. Breakfast and dinner were great! We tried multiple breakfast options throughout our stay, and needless to say, they were all very tasty. Also, we regret only having booked for dinner once, as it definitely was our best dinner experience on Arran. From the lodge you can also go on some beautiful hikes, and the Arran distillery is very close by. We will definitely be back!
