Beautiful place to stay! On arrival we had a wonderful afternoon tea 😋
Our room had fantastic views of the garden. The bed and pillows are the comfiest I've slept on 😴
Breakfast set us up for the day! We had a full Welsh breakfast on day 1 and a South African breakfast on Day 2.
Gina & Gareth are great hosts and go out of their way to give recommendations on walks and places to go.
We ended our stay with a lovely, tranquil walk along the river and disused railway track at the back of the house.
Will definitely go back and highly recommend staying here!

We have just come back from a fabulous bank holiday weekend staying at the b and b. It was a fantastic stay. Gina and Gareth go out of their way to make it feel like home and relaxed. The room was decorated lovely and was so calm and relaxing, exactly what you needed after their lovely cooking and wine. We will be going back and have already recommended them to family members. Thanks again guys, it was the relaxing time we needed .

Excellent location, easy access to all areas in this beautiful part if the country. Superb room, amazing jacuzzi bath. Extremely comfy big bed and pillows. Gorgeous room with views and sound of waterfall in background, stunning decor throughout. Fabulous homecooked evening meal and breakfast. Wonderful gardens. 2 nights is not enough time to fully appreciate this home, area and most welcoming hosts. Thank you for your hospitality.

I would 1000% recommend that anyone looking to escape from reality comes here!
I couldn't fault it even if I tried, everything was so fabulous.
The room was beautiful, the food was fantastic and the owners, Gina and Gareth, were always so helpful and so pleasant 😊
I will definitely be going back 😁

First impressions, location fabulous. Parking, so easy. Greeting by Gareth, friendly and informative. Accommodation, first class, warm and immaculately clean. We had 2 excellent nights sleep, astonishingly good breakfasts.

This review is constructive criticism, not a big moan or complaint.

The experience at AR was not 5 star or luxury, despite it being described as such.

Our original booking had a dinner & an afternoon tea booked for our arrival day. We had to move the booking, & had presumed the afternoon tea remained booked for our arrival day. This was not the case, & hadn’t been communicated to us. So we arrived at the booked time, after a 6 hour journey, only to be spoken to in a very patronising and rude manor by the owner. Not what you need when you’re hungry. Instead of apologising for the mix up and inviting us in the sort it, he just stood there and told us we were wrong. Later, there was an apology.

Dinner was 7PM, & you needed to be seated by 6:50. We had finished a 3-course meal by 7:45. That’s absurd, no one wants to eat that quickly. The food itself was below a luxury standard. There’s no way the roast potatoes were homemade, they tasted exactly like Aunt Bessies. The starter was fine, but it’s just basic white bread - for a meal that costs £83, you’d at least expect a slice of artisan bread or something. Vegetables were soggy, clearly just boiled from frozen. Dessert was OK but highly doubt it was homemade.

Considering you have to order all of this in advance, you would expect the food to actually be homemade. We paid £68 for the meal, as we received a £15 discount due to our Afternoon Tea being messed up. Ultimately, £68 was too much. We had a fantastic meal at the local pub (Stag) of homemade pizzas with fresh and locally sources ingredients, and it cost just £25 for 2. I think if AR reduced their menu & kept it simple, they could deliver better quality meals. One veggie option, one meat option is all you need. But do it actually homemade!

Not being able to drink red wine or eat a takeaway in your room - this rule needs to go. It’s a luxury boutique B&B, not a TravelLodge. Trust your guests and accept that occasionally mistakes happen.

Cooked breakfast was alright, but I was disappointed with the Welsh breakfast. It only had Black Pudding, but I was hoping for more welsh items like square sausage & white pudding etc. Again for a luxury 5 star experience, you’d expect that your sausages are from a local farm, the eggs from a local producer, and the bread is homemade. But all the ingredients were just, basic.

WiFi is slow, fair enough, it’s in the countryside. But one thing to be aware of, their login process to the WiFi is old fashioned & in-secure, so much so our work laptop firewalls wouldn’t let us connect.

The luxury toiletries did not include a bubble bath - when there’s a nice bath you want to use it!

You’re given 2 Taylor’s coffee bags, not enough to make 2 people coffee for 2 mornings. Again, not very luxury.

The glass water bottle in the room is too big to fit under the tap. Again, not very luxury.

Your names are written on the door and your room door - not very safe.

Gareth was wearing shorts & t shirt, during October, while greeting guests. Fine in summer if they were smart. Luxury B&B - put a nice shirt and jeans on.

Too many forms and rules. During our stay, we filled out 6 forms. 1 to book the place, 1 to check in, 1 for dinner, 1 for afternoon tea and 2 for breakfast. I get it’s a small place that needs to plan, but this was a lot. There was also an overload of rules & “don’t do this”.

Positives: The house & decor is nice, it was exactly what you’d expect from a B&B in the countryside. The room was clean and comfortable. Parking was fine. The food was edible and did it’s job. Gina was very efficient & helpful during the booking process which was over email, explaining everything & they accommodated us moving our dates.

Just feel there’s areas of improvement to be made, nothing that major, all just fine tune adjustments that make it feel more luxury. It felt like everything they do was to make their life easier, not their guests’.

If Gina and Gareth made these changes, it could be great.

What a fabulous place to stay. The rooms, the food and the friendly helpful owners - everything was really lovely. It's beautiful, warm, welcoming, clean and extremely comfortable.
There's also plenty to see and do in the area and good restaurants locally for those evenings when Gina and Gareth aren't cooking. We had a couple of nights here and ate in on one of those. Delicious home cooked food, so do eat in if you can.
Absolutely recommend it.
