Nature is returning to Wallasea. Winter counts frequently exceed 20000 birds. You can often see Marsh Harrier, Hen Harrier, Short Eared Owl and Peregrine Falcon during a short walk. Dress appropriately, including waterproof footwear. No toilet or refreshment facilities as yet.

Love it here great for birding and wildlife photography especially in the winter months when the hen harriers arrive along with the short eared owls.. Fantastic place for kestrels all year round. Unfortunately no toilets. I understand that rspb are making this amazing reserve wheelchair friendly.

There is such a peculiar beauty to this place, the landscape changing all the time with the tide, the changing light and the birds wading through it. Very peaceful and quiet, a great place for a couple of hours of walk and watching birds do their thing.

Beautiful open skies. The place was full of life, butterflies, yellow wag tails, geese, dragonflies, terns and much more. Take a kite and enjoy. There are no facilities or bins, just a small car park for abt 20 cars

There is now a functional portaloo at this site (as of my visit: 14.05.2022). The portaloo is adjacent to the car park (up the road a bit and 'Wallasea Island Wild Coast project' on Google Maps) and not at this marker pin.

Please note there is also a disclaimer to say that this portaloo is only intended as a trial and is not yet a permanent feature. I expect if the portaloo is a 'success', they might one day think about installing something permanent, though don't hold your breath.

As of my visit, there were three toilet rolls and a bottle of hand sanitiser, and naturally – being a portaloo – it was a chemical flush toilet. To be honest, it was in a fairly presentable state so it's obviously maintained in some way. For the germaphobes among us, bring your own antiseptic wipes/spray along though 😉

Nice reserve, lovely pathway with the waters in view. Pretty quiet on the afternoon we went. Free car park, one portaloo on trial that was clean and with toilet paper!
