Anglo Welsh Ltd (Great Haywood)

Friendly arrival to an immaculate boat, including fresh flowers on the table. We had everything we needed for a very comfortable family week holiday. Staff were always available if we needed to call on them, which we did when the Canal Trust let us down and had been unaware of a lock closure on our route (highly unusual, I'm told). The response from Anglo Welsh was second to none. We will definitely book with them again.

Had an a amazing day out on the self drive canal boat. It's great that they are only half the length of a standard boat. Really easily maneuvered for a total novice. Kids l9ved helping with the locks etc. The boating community on the canal were all really friendly and helpful too.

Staff on the phones when booking were great and helpful and the staff at great Haywood were brilliant too. The guy there took us down to first lock and showed us the ropes and then left us to it. Really great value for £99 for the day.

Would highly recommend this company for a great day out.

Perfect day out today, spoke to Ivan on the phone who was the really helpful and took me through how I needed to book. Lucky I booked the day before and got availability. We took out the canal boat Abi which was perfect for our first novice booking. David gave an excellent briefing and took us through all the aspects of the boat which included safety tips. After a full tour of the boat we set sail, and headed to Rugeley, David took us through the first lock and allowed us to gain experience which allowed us all to navigate through. I have to say the day was fantastic with no issues, we all enjoyed the experience and will be back again very soon. Thanks to Anglo Welsh team, you made us feel very welcome and supported us to have a beautiful day!!

Hired a boat for a day trip.
The booking was made online and this was nice and straightforward. There is also a 10% discount for blue light card holders.

Very helpful and friendly staff that assisted me after I had made my booking. I had a few questions and they were really helpful and provide answers to my emails in a timely manner.

When we arrived for the day trip David took us through the safety procedures, boat instructions and lock tutorial.
He was very friendly and knowledge and gave us lots of confidence that we would manage the day and keep control of the boat.

The boat for day hire was clean and had a small galley and toilet. There were glasses and crockery for use on board.

David talked us through all the controls for the boat, the correct way to slow and stop the boat and canal etiquette.
If it's your first time going out on a boat you will zig zag across the canal for a good hour or so, then it will just click and you'll feel like you were always ment to be at the tiller.

There are 3 options for routes from this base and all of them have locks.
We headed south towards Rugeley. This route had 2 locks and was absolutely stunning scenery.

David took us through the process for operating a lock and with this being a popular route there will be plenty of people to help if you do get stuck.

It's an absolutely fantastic way to spend a day and I can't wait to come back.

Day boats could do with some work doing on them (general maintenance and neatening up) but otherwise a lovely day out and friendly and efficient (albeit busy!) staff

I needed an engineer at short notice, and these people were wonderful. Fitted me in. Showed me where to moor up easily, and serviced the engine at a very teasonable price. They were kind and friendly.

Did a boat hire for the day after passing it day before. Best thing ever, 4 of us 2 boys with needs. What a lovely day. Friendly staff. Booking again soon. Highly recommend to anyone
