It’s a great bookshop with main focuses on French, German, Spanish, and Italian books - with a great variety of content from cookbooks to philosophical fiction.

But the issue is - it’s so extremely and exorbitantly expensive! I can see how it will appeal to the wealthy locals, but there’s no way a student like me can afford the majority of the books available, if any at all. Perhaps a bad example: the Swedish textbook I’ve taken a picture of and accordingly attached. £42!

Not to mention how misleading the website is - the website says they offer plenty books in Swedish, including dictionaries, non-fiction and fiction. But when I went into the store they told me they don’t sell dictionaries for Swedish, and that there are only non fiction - for which I only saw a few textbooks.

The staff were quite friendly and helpful during my visit and happily let me bring my bicycle in.

I probably wouldn’t come here again. Not the best place for the student - it’s only affordable for the rich local residents! Perhaps if you at least brought in some more affordable books/textbooks you’d attract a large community of students. And please - fix your website! It’s very misleading.

Ordered course book and exercise book for my wife's french course on the recommendation of course organiser, Alliance Francaise. The exercise book was listed as coming into stock the day before the course began. The course book duly arrived but the exercise book didnt as expected but there wasn't any email or text to indicate when exercise book would be dispatched. After 2 weeks of answer messages and emails without response we finally spoke to someone to find the book was still on order, plus the person was completely not bothered. Forced to use Amazon...Really poor customer service, won't be using them again

A wonderful opportunity, for people in the Uk, to get in touch with Italian culture, at its best. The bookseller lady there is most knowledgeable and nice

I am very disappointed. I ordered a book online which was due to be in stock middle of January and then the due date changed again to end of January. I tried to get in contact with the customer service email and they only replied over 1 week later saying that the book would be ready the early part of first week of February...here we are and I still have not received it or been updated on when I can expect it. The book was meant to be a present for my mum's birthday, otherwise I would not have cared of the delay.

I'm sure going to the store and purchasing a book there and then yields no issues and is a pleasant experience, but I would not recommend ordering a book online if you need it by a certain time. No updates, poor customer service and your book will not arrive on time. I see others have had the same issues.

If I could give zero stars I would.

I have just opened the door and the lady at the desk didn't even say hello to me and very aggressively asked me to put the mask on ( the mask was on I was literally coming from outside and just put it up) and she said the shop is closed when the door was opened.

I was shocked and I have said I can go away I just wanted to have a look and buy a book, she said you need to do quickly!! I went downstairs but I was so frustrated by this treatment that I left.

I have bought many books in the past from this shop, its very sad how customers are treated here.

I m myself a customer service manager and I never write reviews of this kind but these people really deserve the worst reviews.

I have also read some reviews from other people and I agree about the classist behaviour they have. In the past they didn't treat me nice as they thought I was just a girl buying one book once in a while, but when they knew I was teaching Italian, they tried to sell me all the books and tried to be nice with me.

Simply disgusting, don't go there.

The one time I came here, the ladies upstairs were really nice. The ones downstairs were dismissive and gave me racist vibes. They were not very nice when I told them I needed a book. I ended up canceling my order (they were out of stock and had been for a while, even though I'd pre-ordered it or something, I don't remember) and ordering it elsewhere. As a speaker of French, German, and Portuguese, they could make lots of moolah off of me, but they judged a book by its cover, so none for Glen Coco.

Can't sing the praises of this store enough. Extensive selection in nearly all European languages - and my "must stop" place when in London. Attentive, helpful staff.
