The Rye Bookshop

A lovely shop that hosts great literary events in the heart of Rye.

Yes it is a “Waterstones in disguise” rather than an Independent bookshop.

It is “dog friendly”, so our visit was the first time I have taken my dog into a bookshop, and he did seem to think was great!

Not "independent" as it's a Waterstones in disguise but, as you'd expect, the range is wide and the prices are reasonable.

Lovely book shop with no pressure to buy which gives time to comfortably browse before purchasing. Friendly & helpful staff. Good layout, sells cards and good quality novelty gifts.

This is one of my favorite bookshops by far! It's not massive but the selection they have is brilliant. The staff really know their stuff, and dotted all round the shop are staff recommendations which are well worth trying.

I am so in love with this bookshop, every time I come to Rye I always buy something here.
They have a great selection of books.

Not sure I consider it possible to walk past a bookshop without going in… but even if you did, you should not be walking around Rye centre without visiting the bookshop. There is a good selection of titles and a really friendly atmosphere.
