This is such an amazing book shop! It's one of my favourite places to visit in Exeter (and the only donation-based book shop I've ever seen)! It's definitely worth a visit, even if you're not after a new book to read.

What an amazing shop! We came to Exeter for the weekend on a weekend away, and went hunting for book shops (we’re both avid readers). We stumbled upon this and what a delightful experience we had. It is truly amazing, and the work they do is inspiring. I could spend all day in this shop. Truly remarkable! Hope to come back but was worth the 4 hour drive!

Went in there a few months ago with a friend of mine, I was curious. However soon we got in the shop the elderly woman was rude. Snapped at us for not properly closing the door and soon we got in there blocked the door with her shopping basket thing so we couldn't get out. I was curiously of where the second floor stairs was and instantly heard her shouting at me. That was big nope and decided to leave.

I helped Hettie with her books. She was so pleasant and very profund and succinct in her conversation with me. She then gave me a book. The book... well go see. Its good. Its been there for a while... because its good.

Last week i made my first visit. The gentleman who served me was polite and kind. Today i went back. There was an elderly lady on the till. She refused to give my son his change. So when i paid for my books i said that his change went towards them as well as the extra money. She argued the case and was rude. She seems to have a poor attitude and was very sarcastic about the donation i had chosen. Im afraid the shop has gone from being my favourite bookshop to somewhere i wont go back to. The lady made me feel very uncomfortable and like i had cheated her somehow. She is not an asset to your business.

Great selection of second hand books, relaxed atmosphere, room to sit down and read.

Fantastic little charity bookshop in which you donate what you think your 3 books per day are worth. I go to Exeter every four months or so, and this is my number 1 place to call in to. The shop is inside a tiny Disney fairytale house, all timber beams and wonky. The upstairs room is Heaven on a sunny afternoon - I wish that was my library/reading room, I’d want to stay in there forever.

HOWEVER .... never go on a Tuesday. That’s when I’ve noticed the horrible elderly lady works there. Many reviewers have given this shop 1 star because of her and commented on her attitude; she really is an awful person. Rude, sarcastic, finds it amusing to shout at customers, moans constantly about anything to other staff members, and once abused me for only giving her a £10 note for 3 books when other people gave her £1 or less. I told her that’s all the cash I had, and she threw my £10 into the till and glared at me while muttering something under her breath. Any excuse to be just, plain horrendous to customers. So when she’s on duty the day you go, feel privileged that you’ve met the most awful woman you’ll possibly come across in a shop.

Every other staff member on other days have been a delight, and extremely grateful for any donation.

This place is utterly delightful.

This is a charity shop where you decide your own prices for the books. All books are donated by other people.

The little old lady running it was delightfully kind and helpful even though she had a real trouble walking. The man helping her to run it was also cheerful and friendly and chatty.

Will visit again for sure when I'm back in Exeter.
