Pont Britannia

The Britannia Bridge is a fascinating structure, and this viewpoint allows you to experience its scale thoroughly. It also provides nice views across the Menai Straits in both directions. The site exhibits a few historical artefacts, such as one of the tubular girders. When we went, there was almost no-one else around; this may be because cars are now banned from the area. The main viewpoint is on a stone wharf under the bridge - this is accessed by a sloping path, which was very slippery.
There is another viewpoint on the north side of the Straits, accessed from the layby and down to the shore.
Overall, a very impressive, but perhaps underappreciated, viewpoint.

Lovely bridge. Dual purpose with a dual carriageway above and a railway line below. There are great walks either side of the Menai straits which offer great views of the bridge and are lovely in their own right. If you walk to the bridge from Treborth gardens you can get down to a jetty with perfect views back up at the bridge.

You have to see the place to believe how fantastic it is.
