Forty Builders in Cardiff

We had lots of work done last year by Darren Forty and his team, our house has gone from 1980s house to a 2020 house. Darren come up with some great ideas, but is also prepared to listen to your ideas. Nothing is too much trouble, even if you change your mind about something.His team are reliable and friendly and very tidy, everything was cleared up every day. We would recommend him and his team to anyone.

Forty Builders built me a very large two storey extension, which doubled the size of my property. The final building looks fabulous, and the quality of the workmanship is perfection.
Throughout the whole process, Darren and his workmen were highly professional. They went out of their way to avoid any mess, and disturbance to the neighbours.
I cannot praise them highly enough - a really top-class service!

Darren and his team were not known to us before we instructed them however upon meeting Darren it was clear he was someone that cared very much about the service he provided. We knew we had quite a big project to undertake structurally and we wanted someone who was skilled enough to take this on. Darren’s attention to detail was evident throughout and he enabled us to make changes (for the better) to our design with his can do attitude and experience. He helped us throughout the entire build and was always on hand to offer his view and opinions which were very welcomed. We will always be very grateful to Darren for the work he did for us as nothing was too much trouble and we would not hesitate to recommend him and Forty Builders.

We used Forty Builders to renovate our house and were thrilled with the results. We bought a house in much need of work (new electrics/plumbing etc., reconfiguration of layout both upstairs and down, installation of underfloor heating, new kitchen and bathrooms) and Darren and his team transformed it into our modern, comfortable home. Not only were we very pleased with the work, but we were incredibly impressed with the support and time afforded by Darren - he was always happy to go through everything in great detail to make sure we understood each aspect of the work - this helped greatly when making decisions. Darren was very accommodating when we asked for additional work (outside the original brief) to be carried out, when we made last minute changes(!), and he went above and beyond and liaised with third party trades that we had organised. Overall this was a pretty big project, one that we certainly couldn’t have managed independently, and it was successful thanks to Darren and his lovely team. If we were to undertake a project again, I would want Forty Builders to do it.

Forty Builders have recently completed a single storey rear extension on our house and we are delighted with the final results. Darren and the team made the project seamless from start to finish. Friendly, punctual and trustworthy, a really skilled team and professional at all times. Darren has a great eye for detail and is clearly very knowledgable and passionate about his work. Would recommend and would definitely use again!

Darren and his team at Forty Builders are absolutely superb. We had difficulties finding builders to take on a substantial renovation of our 1930's house, encompassing a large knock through/single storey extension and upstairs dormer/renovation. Others were either put off by the large amount of steelwork involved or provided extremely misleading quotes.

Darren's quote on the other hand was realistic, competitive and extremely detailed. It was clear they had recent experience of large scale jobs, with a real understanding of building regulations and structural requirements which really put us at ease. In addition they were clear that everything was priced into the quote, which means no 'stealth' fees as the build progressed.

When the build commenced Darren did as much as humanly possible to ensure everything ran to plan. He and his team were extremely punctual, attentive and did their best to minimise disruption as we had no choice to live in the house as the works were carried out. There were no down days which meant you saw constant progress. Unlike some other builders they really cared about our needs, placing an emphasis on clear communication which enabled us to make considered decisions as and when required. Darren went to great lengths to make sure he understood our 'vision' for how we wanted our extension to look, but he also made sure he managed our expectations so that we understood what was possible and what wasn't. He and his team would always take the extra time to explain the next stage of the process for us which really alleviated any built up stress as homeowners.

Flexibility is also a huge plus for them. We had several difficulties with our kitchen including missing units and poor customer service from our chosen retailers. Despite the disruption this caused, Darren made sure his team worked around revised timescales without causing further delay. A little overlooked but also massively important is the level of aftercare they provide. If something isn't quite finished to their extremely high standards they make it their priority to fix as soon as possible.

Overall I couldn't recommend Forty Builders enough. They place a premium on being extremely professional and their reputation is more than deserved. I will definitely be using them again in the future when we tackle the rest of the house/garden!

Darren has almost finished work on our house. We reconfigured the back of the house to create a large kitchen/diner, utility space and shower room. The job involved significant structural work. Darren and the boys were a pleasure to work with. As previous reviews have said nothing was too much trouble and adjustments and extras were accommodated along the way. They were here at 8 every morning and communication has been excellent. When there have been any snags, which will happen in any job, Darren has acted promptly to resolve them. The standard of the finish so far is excellent which is testament to Darren being particular about the quality of tradespeople he works with. The work took place during the winter lockdown but Darren and his workers were careful about social distancing and blocked off our living area from the work area. They were always polite to our neighbours which didn't go unnoticed. We would happily recommend this company.

So we moved house and as promised Darren and his team at Forty Builders came and worked their magic again. It’s so nice to be able to leave them to it and know they are working hard to produce your dream and even more than you asked for. I am not an easy customer as I have a lot of ideas that aren’t average and Darren never lets me down there is always an option with sheer genius. If you want a cheap job with out attention to detail then these might not be your perfect builders however if you want a team who work with you and offer more than you expect then you should speak to them.
