We had a lovely lunch down here on the boat. It was red hot and we had some drinks and some lunch, I had a lovely salad and they went out of their way to cater for our 2 year old. There was a basket of toys for the little ones too. There are some nice looking cakes, but we didn't get that far. There was a wide selection of San pelligrinos too.

We sat in the boat, watched the river and the boats go by, they waved as they went past. It was a really pleasant aspect of Maidstone. I have often driven past the river, and not thought it looked nice, but it really was from down there.

There are tables outside, and you don't have to get on the boat to order or have your food and drink.

Stopped by for a short lunch break... Superb food served on a recently restored 100+ year old canal boat... Would highly recommend it... Had a lovely hummus mezze and couldn't resist a piece of cake afterwards...

Quirky venue
This venue is exactly as it says on line. An old fashioned barge converted for on board and on riverbank dining. The menu isn't long, as the galley wouldn't allow it, but the selection fills most peoples requirements. Owner plus youngsters serving. Owner is clearly passionate about her cafe. I started with a chicken Laksa, nicely if gently spiced and had a baguette with breakfast ingredients inside. Good bacon herby sausages and egg. My mint hot chocolate was very indulgent. My partner had healthier but equally tasty food.
The inside of the barge seems still very authentic.
Friendly chatty staff, would recommend.

Most expensive BLT I have ever had.  Can't eat tomatoes so they gave me Teaspoon of chutney. What lettuce there was none,  except 3 spinach leaves. Baguette was dry so I asked and was given mayonnaise.  £5.80. So as the River Festival was on, prices raised.  Shocking.

They have a few tasty vegan options. It's a sweet little place to go to eat in the sun, feed the birds and enjoy a meal by the water.

My new favourite place to visit for coffee in the summer. Perfect spot by the river for refreshments. Lovely cake and brilliant for vegan options too!
