We have always had a tremendous experience at this cafe. Unfortunately today we ordered two ploughman’s platters
What can I say other than they were awful. Nicely presented but completely consisted of stodgy pork pie, sausage roll and scotch egg very small amount of cheese , ham coleslaw and pickles Not really a ploughman’s lunch.
If you take this option avoid the pork pie six hours later still eating it.
So sad.

Really really good breakfast and a great choice of other cakes, coffees etc. Considering its not peak season everything appeared freshly made. Service was quick, efficient and friendly.

Wonderful establishment serving a huge variety of home cooked food from local suppliers at reasonable prices. Very welcoming staff in relaxing environment. Open on New Year's Day ... a bonus to our Advanced Motorcycle Group on New Year's Day Ride.
Thank you Hartington Farm Shop and Cafe, fantastic establishment.

I can't comment on the food unfortunately. We passed through today and saw the cafe was open until 4pm according to the Christmas Opening Times hung on the door. My partner and I and our two young children took a seat in the cafe, we waited for a few moments but no one came over. I went to the counter and asked the lady if they were still servicing food, she replied "no we are not and we DO close in 20 minutes" (it was 3:08). There were still a lot of customers drinking and finishing their meals in the cafe and more coming in. I understand that maybe hot food wasn't available but there is a way of communicating with people which the wider world calls 'customer service'. There was no offer of hot drinks or cakes and we were made to feel very unwelcome. I was taken aback by her condescending tone so walked straight out with my upset children. I certainly won't be recommending this place to anyone and won't be visiting again.
