Well, after spending the best part of an hour looking around the magnificent Cathedral opposite, where else are you going to go?
Excellent range of what look like home made cakes on display. Managed to avoid those and lost out to a cream tea! It was rather nice though.
Although I was sitting inside, there is also a courtyard area and a garden area to the rear. Delightful place.

Great service and she food was delicious. Tea was a bit cold though. Staff are so friendly and will help you as much as needed. Recommend it to people that love cake.

This was our first visit to Chapters Cafe as normally the place is rammed due to coach visits.

Rachel served us and was very professional and personable which makes all the difference.

The teas and coffee were good. There were plenty of coffees and hot chocolates to choose from.

The cake portions were of a decent size. It was hard to choose. The bakewell slice was flavourful with a nice crispy top. The carrot cake was wonderfully spiced with just the right amount of cream cheese filling and flakes almonds on top. Cakes were served with cake forks, a nice touch.

The soup was tasty. It was nice to have the choice of butter or margarine to go with the accompanying bread.

All in all a very pleasant experience.

Friendly staff and a good selection of reasonably priced food and drinks. A choice of beautiful rooms to sit in one ordered and your choices will be brought to your table.

Nice cafe with a good selection of cakes. Indoor and outdoor seating all set in the shadow of the cathedral. Lovely staff, always smiling. During the summer the garden a little over crowded by wasps, probably after this lively cream teas! Lunch menu nice, although when busy the food sells out quick. Recommended.

Arrived around 2 went to order Sunday lunch but were told sold out so ordered 3 cream tea . Teas which was very strong arrived promptly with tea bags still in no spoons asked for sugar was told it’s at front desk. By 245 no sign of scones so my sister asked and they said there was half an hour wait which we weren’t advised on ordering no choice but to wait because no time to go elsewhere before Cathedral food was lovely when it did arrive. It was a shame because my sister had told me how lovely it was must have picked wrong day to go

This cafe has really gone downhill in the last few years. Service was terrible - waited over 25 min for a simple cup of coffee. The menu used to be good with a wide variety of food on offer. Now there is very little on the menu - breakfasts (all day, it says), jacket potatoes ("we've run out"), pies and mash or chips ("sorry, there's no mash") and so on. In the end nothing I could eat, so I went hungry. Other people ordered pies and other things, but they all arrived at different times with flabby looking pies and underwhelming chips. I was glad I went hungry. Not happy. Bring back the old menu and good service please.
