Visited during 2021, lovely accommodating and a very memorable stay (for all good reasons!). Stayed one night in the caravan, had the kitchen to ourselves which was great. Slight trouble finding the entrance, but otherwise we had no issues.

This is the wilder side of camping but done preperly with a lovely community feel to it. Also an epic pub for any meal situated right next to a huge lake with a beautiful terrace is within easy walking distance...

Don't expect shiny chrome and tiled surfaces, but do expect beautiful natural sculptures, interesting walks and nice little paths all around the forest. Interesting landscaping projects going on though most look half finished... Charity based so I'm imagining they just need a few more volunteers. Hard to find and not easy to contact them but I guess that's part of the charm of a place like this, you'll understand when you arrive!

The pub (fisher's pond) makes it 5 stars, 4 without, but it's there, so 5*!

I want to start this review by saying I rented the entire site with a group of friends, with the intention of basically having a party in a place with lots of freedom. Our needs were definitely met. Despite this, the site is flexible at catering for different groups and is also perfect for families im sure. It is a natural, back to basics, hearty camping experience.
Me and a group of 11 friends stayed at the site for 3 nights. This is the 2nd time we have stayed and we intend to come back again as we all enjoyed it thoroughly. The pub nearby serves great food and has a great view of the lake. Shops are a 15 minute drive (aldi, sainsburys, asda, lidl). The site itself has a warmth and quirkiness to it (interesting woodland, Old trinkets to look at, decorative logs and stones). The huts are very cosy also. As well as this, the host Kerie, is a very charming person. She was a friendly and welcoming individual that was very flexible when it came to catering for me and my friends, especially when it came to dealing with money. She would often be accompanied by some rescue dogs which me and my friends enjoyed and found wholesome. She also made sure we had all the space we needed. On top of all of this, the money you pay goes towards a charity for children with type 1 diabetes and helps to maintain the horse sanctuary on site. I would highly reccomened moorelands.

Advertised as pet friendly. Attempted to contact by messaging and calling to confirm and had no response. Booked only to be told they can’t accommodate cats for “insurance reasons” which is absolute nonsense. Responses were short, unhelpful and unfriendly.

Campsite with sheds for rent, really too expensive for (87 euro's ) for a shed.
Cold, damp and dirty shed. The campsite is fine if you bring your own camping gear. Sometimes dogs running loose, so for small kids a no go. We had 2 Pittbulls camping in the next shed. Really a dissapointment.

Liked: Remote, away from the road.
Close to a nice pub with good food.

Disliked: I added a log basket to our booking, the site didn't supply this even when asked over the phone with no solution offered or considdred a few weeks after still emailing one of the owners. Take your own fire wood, the site doesn't care what's on your booking they'll just take your money and not supply.

No email was sent prior to arrival from the site, when calling up to ask what pitch we were on it seemed they forgot they had a site let alone care about a booking or where we pitched up.

The woodland pitches are tiny and although they allow multiple tents per pitch you should plan for 1

I wonder if the summer is different, as it's currently out of season on an open all year site.
