Liked: Site clean & tidy and staff friendly on arrival. The surroundings and walking routes are what made the stay. We also tried out the cafe and Old Nags Head pub - both lovely. There is also a little shop on site if you need essentials.
Would recommend as a place to stay if you love your walking.

Disliked: We stayed in the Grouse field which is furthest away from busier areas. As the weather was nice we didn't mind walking a bit further to the facilities and water point. Facilities were basic but clean & kept tidy. Showers weren't always really hot but we got away with it as the weather was warm.
You can’t park your car next to your pitch but there were pull along trolleys to ferry our gear across from a nearby car park. Some areas in the field not level however you can pitch where you want to.

Nice campsite with good views over the valley. Would recommend staying in the bigger field which is more secluded than the others. Facilities were okay but not one of the best we’ve experienced. Shop was decent and had most things you need. The cafe did really good baps that you could also ask to be wrapped up to take away. The staff were pleasant but didn’t go out of their way.

Liked: Absolutely everything! Tranquil setting, amazing views nestled under a purple-heathered Kinder, rustic yet well-managed, quiet and peaceful. The staff are cheerful, relaxed and friendly. The experience of wandering down for outdoor wood-fired pizza in the hot sunshine with a cold g&t was amazing- a much-appreciated rest from cooking on the camp stove at the end of a long day up Kinder! The kids had acres of room to run free & barefoot, making friends and starting games together. All the other campers were so friendly - a real community spirit. As a lone parent camper, it was a godsend to have a shop onsite (and pub 2 mins away!) so everything was accessible. The whole hot sunny trip was relaxing.

Great facilities: nice toilets, washing up area, a cafe, pizza oven on the go, and even some live music! Very spacious (we were there on a Thursday night, school holidays), and it cost us £25 for two adults (baby was free) - we turned up without booking. Apparently it was going to be busy at the weekend though. Nice full moon and shooting stars at night. Perfect.

Liked: Amazing facilities with clean showers and toilets, pot wash etc. Easy check in/check out and friendly helpful staff. Campsite was clean, quiet and amazing views. We also loved the little cafe and general store was super useful and had vegan and veggie options for us. Also the wifi was strong and reached our pitch at the back of the sparrow hawk field which we were so grateful to have.

Disliked: Drinking water tasted pretty bad but to be expected from outdoor metal taps on site, so would recommend bringing your own or buying bottled water. That’s the only thing I could possibly fault from a perfect site.

Liked: Lovely picturesque campsite. Good level pitch with electric hook up. Friendly and helpful staff - always around. Nice cafe that is nearing a complete refurbishment - prices are good as is their coffee! Little general store that has basics/essentials and again not too exorbitant like on other campsites. The toilet block and pot wash area could do with an upgrade but don't let this put you off as was cleaned daily and warm enough in the -0 temperatures on our visit! (Just needs an overhaul thats all). We stayed for 3 nights and went to the Old Nags Head for drinks and dinner one night - about 300 yards from the site. (Also nearby - 5 min walk is The Rambler - both pubs are cosy but I bet are glorious in the Spring/Summer too.) We walked up Ringing Roger and then Mam Tor on another day. Its a busy area at weekends for walkers but lovely and quiet during the week. Also caught the train from Edale one morning to Hathersage and back - lovely village with a range of shops inc. outdoor gear and cycle repairs plus lovely Colman's Deli for coffee and range of salads. Great service - download the Northern Train app for tickets and info - brilliant. We can't wait to visit again.

Liked: Location is simply amazing; nestled between Kinder Scout and Mam Tor. Couldn’t be better.
Very welcoming reception. The camping field was good. A gentle slope but nothing extreme. Lots and lots of space in January but I can imagine it getting full in summer.
The toilets, shower and washing up building was immaculately clean.
The cafe on site was simply amazing. Great fresh coffee and homemade cakes. I was going to cook a breakfast but I couldn’t resist a bacon and sausage buttie. The menu for lunch and tea looked great too. Two massive pizza ovens that get used later in the year looked impressive.
Well stocked shop on site too.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike here. I will be back

Liked: Only made a quick stop for a night on route up to Scotland, plenty of clean facilities and the pitches were good. Apparently there’s a nice cafe on site we didn’t get to see as we left off super early but also noticed 2 pubs on the road you come in on within walking distance. Definitely coming back and looking forward to exploring more from this lovely site.
