We stayed for 4 nights in July - if you do the same beware of the midges, some of our party had lots of nasty bites.

Our pitch was fully-serviced and large. We would have liked to have been able to request pitches together but this was not an option. We ended up back to back which worked well.

There are only 3 toilets which are in the same cubicles as the 3 showers. This meant that at times you had a long wait to use the facilities. This was a particular problem on Saturday when the site was busy and we had to queue for showers and to use the toilets at all times of night and day. A new block is being built but will not open until 2023. The toilets often had no toilet roll and there are no facilities to dry hands.

The location is great. Walks to Rhayader and Elan Valley Reservoirs.

Hope to come back in the future and be able to give a higher rating when the new block is open.

We booked an electric pitch for 1 night. We turned up later in the evening and couldn't find anyone to check us in, no greeting, so parked up. Later the owner came to ask us if we had booked so there had been a mix-up their side. Aside from that, the views were beautiful. Toilets fine (although showers and toilets in same cubicle (prefer separate personally). Code for door to toilet/shower block. Queue in morning but apparently they are building a new block which should solve this problem.
There were tons of bugs(midges) at night and quite a lot during the day due to the site being near water (stream at bottom of hill of electric pitches) so be warned.
Wonderful location close to beautiful Elan Valley

Bring money and run. This site is bordering a busy road which has a cattle grid making regular machine gun rattle throughout the night. We arrive in the dark and the site is unmanned and there is no phone signal. We were not sure where to go and settled ourselves close to the only toilets (3 cubicle fir the entire campsite). It was quiet and I think there were 3 parties in the whole place( we found out why later). In the morning a burly man came over and said we had not booked to be close to the toilet site and demanded a fine. We explained but he didn’t look like someone you would want to meet in the night. He would only accept cash and no doubt would end in his pocket tax free. After taking the cash he told us to get out as we had stayed pass the check out time. We found out from a elderly couple that he was the owner as they had a similar encounter with him the day before. Even nature didn’t help him as the place was filled so thick with midges your arms was swatting like a windmill with the vehicle door closed . We now know why he place was quiet in the peak of camping season. They must have bought their Google reviews after reading non Google sites.

Small camp & Moho site in a beautiful Welsh valley. Roads and cycle/dog walk tracks right by camp. Dog friendly. Toilets and showers work well and are clean and maintained. Large Freezer available for use. Notice board of useful numbers and activities. Expanding on resources.. shop and more showers. Beautiful setting, quiet site near a river and mountains.. plenty of water points and brown water areas, recycling, gas bottles, bat boxes and lucky to see a few Red Kites soaring.

Will be visiting the Red Kite conservation feeding station in the area and Dams in the area. Village of Rhayader 7 min drive away with all you could need. Very kind, helpful and friendly Villagers .. We will certainly be visiting again 10/10.. look forward to seeing how site develops.. hopefully keeping the same atmosphere..

What a delightful site. Great views. Good walks. close proximity of town. All the people on here moaning and winging. I suggest you give up camping because now and again you have to give a little. All the best to the owners we will definitely be back

I rented a fully serviced pitch. Can't fault it all services in easy reach. Clean site, friendly owners small but clean toilet shower block. This is in process of being rectified with the owners building a new shower and toilet block.
Will definitely be back.

For what it is, this place would be 5 stars. If you’re looking for a fully luxurious campsite though, this isn’t it. It’s basic, but if that is what you’re looking for it’s perfect for that. Flat ground, affordable, and not too busy. Portaloos got a bit mucky over the course of the weekend we stayed. You can tell there is a lot of work going into improving the site and we’ll likely visit again. There’s a lovely babbling brook / river (depending on water levels) running alongside, easy to get to. Note that spaces aren’t allocated unless you get an electric hookup. There’s nowhere to check in, and nothing in the booking experience to explain that, so it was slightly confusing on arrival. Also when the site barrier is down, people who have arrived generally don’t realise they have the access code in their email, so they sit by the gate for ages trying to figure it out, blocking other entry / exit. Also the panels to enter the access code are on the passenger side on the wrong side of the road - doesn’t make much sense!

I have read unfavourable reviews about this site and because of this I wasn't sure what it would be like.

I was a family with 3 kids - 12, 7 and 6. Dog also.

The site was well maintained. Very clean and gorgeous views. Loved hearing the local wildlife in the morning and the running river.

Even though it was sold out plenty of space. I didn't feel like I was too close to other campers.

The ground was hard so worth taking a little mallet.

Toilets - yes by camping there were two portaloos whilst the new facilities are being built. All looks very fab. So look forward to visiting again when that's up as running. The owner was constantly cleaning the toilets and I didn't have to queue. Again on a sold out bank holiday. So this was great

The showers I didn't use but husband said they were great and queued for about 10 mins to get in. So no bother.

If you needed anything local shop was about a 7 min drive into local town.

The owner was very polite. Really helpful and chatty. He came around nattering and offering help and ancedotes. Lovely bloke

Elan itself was incredible! Stunning.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back definatley! Thanks for an amazing stay!
