Black Mountain View Caravan Park

Liked: Had a wonderful stay! James was very helpful and gave us a great welcome. It was our first time pitching up and he was a fantastic help. The site was well kept and the facilities were spotless. WiFi was fast, reliable and free.

Quiet site, minimal road noise.

Less than a 10 minute drive to Hay, alternatively there is a nice walk there via the fields.

We will definitely return in future.

Disliked: Nothing

Stayed here in the motorhome for three nights with the wife, teen son and dog. Easy to find and very personal welcome from James on arrival. Site is small, with spotlessly clean facilities. It's an easy, well signposted walk into Hay-on-Wye - about 35 minutes. Water available between every 2-3 pitches - James has a hose available if you don’t. Peaceful stay - the wife has already booked again for her Literary Festival visit next year. Would recommend.

Liked: Small, clean , well spaced pitches, amazing views across the valley, toilets and showers good, well equipped disabled facilities, 2 pot wash areas under cover and excellent value for money.

Disliked: Close to main road though there is a good hedge offering some noise protection, 45 min walk to Hay on Wye which is picturesque but taxi services very limited if you need them. No local hostelries within safe walking distance or shops-not the sites fault at all though!

Liked: Aptly named as the view of the Black Mountains is spectacular. Very neat site with decent sized pitches. Toilets/showers are very clean and always had hot water. James was very helpful and his hand drawn map of the walk into Hay on Wye is a joy. The walk itself wonderful through some farmland then along the river into town. Takes about 35 mins even with a inquisitive dog! The site is nice and quiet which is a bonus. Will definitely stay again.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike and this is only a personal preference. We have an awning which was had to mostly pitch on the hard standing to protect the grass area's which is perfectly understandable

Liked: We loved everything about Black Mountain View Cvn. Pk. From the warm and helpful welcome, to the wonderful views, to the brilliant night time star filled heavens above. A very peaceful site with good clean facilities. Our dogs loved the designated field area for their immediate excercise. Hay-On-Wye is a pleasant tourist town close by with many cafes and shops plus riverside walks in the area. James, the site owner couldn't have been more helpful and informative without being pushy. We would come come back in a heartbeat and do more exploring in the Black Mountains. We enjoyed a good trek to the Begwyns this trip and wore the dogs out, not to mention ourselves.

Liked: Very friendly site, with all the information we needed for an enjoyable stay. Even provided us with some rubber matting for our awning on hard standing. Good sized level pitch and very clean facilities. Water tap on most pitches which is handy. Lovely walk into Hay along river and great views. Wouldn't hesitate to use again

Liked: A beautiful little site. The facilities are clean and fresh and the shower water hot. We had an excellent view of the Black Mountains and the sunsets were brilliant. James is a wonderful host, very helpful with advice and it was a bonus to discover that there is an easy walk from the site to Hay on Wye. We will definitely be back.

Site spotless. There was a little bit of road noise but nothing major. Lovely local walks and great views.
