Great place and well organised to be fit for covid lockdown. Facilities are all really clean and well looked after, the cafe has great drinks and ice cream. The grounds are lovely, green and quiet. The access to the river is good and their hire facilities seemed really good too.

Excellent site, despite the complications of the Covid situation the site was spotlessly clean and well run. Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and plenty of space. Super close access to the river with the added attraction of canoe hire

Stayed at this site for a couple of nights in July 2020, our party were most impressed with how well the Covid situation was being handled. Toilets and showers were always spotless and it was explicitly explained that there was a shower and a toilet assigned to each group. There was plenty of signage to ensure each group knew which shower and toilet was theirs to use.

It was nice to see that the campsite was not overcrowded meaning our party felt that they could appropriately social distance from other groups. We have stayed at other sites recently where this has not been the case!

Staff were friendly and kept to strict social distancing which meant that we were largely left to our own devices. However we saw a member of staff talk to another group about a fire being too close to the ground. Staff clearly struck the balance between keeping guests safe but not unnecessarily pestering which made for a relaxing atmosphere.

The setting is beautiful, right by the river and has canoe and kayak hire on site. Several of our party partook in this and had a great time, at £25pp for 3 hours we also felt it was reasonable.

The site is a short drive from the lovely town of Hay on Wye which is well worth a visit, lots of nice bookshops and pubs! We found that every establishment we visited had strict measures in place to keep customers safe.

The site is well priced, well maintained and well managed during difficult circumstances. The staff are doing a fantastic job!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here and are looking to return very soon.

Great campsite right by the side of the river. Rob the owner and his lovely family gave us a lovely welcome and made a massive fuss of our little sprocker pup. Another big shout out to Carl a lovely and friendly member of staff who joined us on walks with his dog Elise. Would recommend to anybody who loves the outside life and we will definitely be back on a regular basis. A big thank you to all especially from Bonnie. 👍

Lovely campsite with easy access to the river, so take dem boats along.. Decent showers and toilets. Only thing I will say is fire pits inc wood are £30 we thought that was a bit steep! Overall cracking place!

We have just left the campsite, have to say it was a lovely short visit, drove from Bournemouth on Friday evening after work, found the campsite well, although google maps took us passed the campsite a few roads, so we had to double back. Arrived around 7pm, the staff greeted us, and we discussed where we would like to pitch our tent. We asked if we could have a quite corner and after speaking with Luke he let us chose a lovely spot. We did have our own toilet and shower but again we think other people were also using these. The shower was freezing, which was a massive shame as we then had to use the worlds smallest sink to wash.
The hot tap on the sink was also far too hot, might burn children’s hands.
Saturday morning we looked for access to the river wye to launch our inflatable kayak, and after speaking to Luke again he explained a few rules to us and where we should aim to get out. We had a great couple of hours on the river and arrived at Hay on Wye,
Where we saw the staff from our campsite helping other canoeist into the river.
Again the staff were great explaining that we could carry on down the river and get out again at Whitley on Wye, at the Boat Inn.
We ran ahead to see if we could get a table at the Boat inn but they were too busy.
We had another good coupe of hours down the river, and we got out at the Boat inn,
Deflated our kayak and went and sat on the grass outside the pub, we managed to get a couple of cheeky pints, and then tried to call a taxi.
THIS WAS A NIGHTMARE! Not one company on google had a correct number or was too far out.
So we called the campsite, within 20minutes, Luke was at the pub to pick us up, for only a tenner. He was brilliant.
Overall the place is gorgeous, not massive but perfect for our little getaway,

I would just say that the toilet/shower facilities could do with an upgrade, the shower was freezing the whole time we were there, Section D.

also a couple more taps for fresh water, and maybe a washing up area would be great also.
Maybe a little shop to sell cold beers or ciders, and ice,

Thanks guys we will be back!

This campsite has some great positives: campfires are allowed; pitches are level and not too crowded; the site has a shop which sells delicious ice cream, tea and coffee. Of course, the biggest positive is the location - beautiful countryside, on the bank of the River Wye - great for kayaks or paddle boards. You can also arrange for collection in a minibus after your kayak adventure (I think it was £5 per person) which is great. Nearby Hay-on-Wye is a lovely place to visit, and it has a Co-op. We had a nice meal at the Harp Inn, a short walk from the site.

However, at a relatively pricey £50 per night, we were disappointed with the facilities - yes, the site has flushing toilets and showers, but some were out of use, and some were very dated. They did not appear to be cleaned very often either. There was only one washing up station. Overall, we had the feeling that the site is mainly set up as a kayak centre, and campers are rather an afterthought.

This site was very overpriced for camping and even some of the people we met there said the same. We used them for the canoe hire and got a poor and slow service. They didn't have adequate barrels for our gear and one of the barrels they gave us, the lid didn't close so our gear got wet. We were offered black bags as a replacement which split and also got our gear wet. There were a couple of instructors who did do a good job and were helpful but management has failed to support them. We will avoid this campsite and canoe hire in future.
