Danny, Liam, thanks for your help and I'll be back for that M3 in your showroom!
I live around 30 miles from the garage, so I went to pick up the car on the agreed date. The work I requested was done...however this broke the car completely as their garage of choice got everything wrong. The car broke down as Karl drove it up the ramp toward me and it was rolled embarrassingly into the garage next door.
I foolishly gave them the benefit of the doubt, as they offered to repair the repairs...so I returned again (another 60 mile round trip) to find the car was STILL not ready on the second agreed date. This happened once more again before I finally got the car.
Driving home I realised there was some sort of issue with the clutch. It took me around 3 months of pestering before they agreed to look at the issue; Karl ‘kindly’ sorted the work to be done with his RAC warranty contact.
I thanked Karl (even giving him some money to get a few beers as a thanks - I know, I must have ‘mug’ on my forehead) before heading to the garage. Only problem was, they refused to do the work when they found out it would cost around £400! Various excuses were made and as a ‘goodwill gesture’ they fixed the heater which was also broken. The heater lasted around 4 weeks before the exact same issue came back (obviously some cheap fix was done), so I went to a proper garage, where needless to say their repairs have lasted.
A few months down the line it failed the MOT as the brake pads and discs were in a horrendous condition, after I had done under a thousand miles. This cost me a further £800 as there were issues with the callipers too. This led to another phonecall where Karl showed his true colours with a few threats - he is a classy chap!
As of today, I still have the clutch problem, as I lost all love for my dream car and can’t bring myself to spend anymore money on it.
I still have a bitter taste in my mouth whenever I think of Oakwood, but I took great delight in telling a work colleague not to buy a very expensive car from them which they were all set to buy.
For the purposes of keeping this relatively brief, I left out a number of other issues and broken promises. Long story short - avoid this place. Plenty of flash cars which look the part but they’re often hiding problems and the sales staff and owner are disgusting. I hope your awful practices catch up with you and continue to hit you in your pocket.
Cars spotless inside and out (looks better than the photos)
Bought with 12 months MOT, I checked the certificate online just out of habit of buying cars and saw 'advisories' that three tyres were close to legal limit worn on edge; I didn't challenge this as the car was priced well to start with. But to my surprise the car had all new tyres when I turned up.
Read the reviews before even contemplating this place.
