I trusted Ockley Classics to carry out some restoration work on my MR2 in August 2020, the main objective to make the car rust free. After three months and four thousand pounds which was paid in instalments, a big proportion of this was towards welding which could not be seen on the face of it upon collection, the car came back to me and the quality of the restoration was appalling, I highlighted many areas to Ockley upon collection of the car, mainly the poor respray that had been done on the vehicle which I did not give them authorisation to do, it had an orange peel affect, obvious overspray, old decals not removed and sprayed over etc as per pictures. They agreed the work was shocking and would take the car back to rectify all of the points highlighted. After 1 year, very little communication and many broken promises I removed my vehicle from Ockley Classics because my car was now in a worse state than when I first gave it to them due to it being partially prepped for a full respray leaving bare metal exposed in some areas and surface rust appearing on panels, it was left on damp ground at the back of their premises and then the front and rear screens were removed and the car moved in to a tent which leaked causing mould to grow inside the car.

Once removed a full inspection of my car was done and it was found that rust holes on the floors had been covered over with fresh under seal, front wings poorly welded and not treated and the rear arches and sills which I had supplied new panels for to be welded in had been filled with large amounts of filler, black sealant and expanding foam to cover rust. That combined with leaving the car outside abandoned on damp ground meant it now required extensive welding and restoration to rectify all of Ockley’s poor workmanship and neglect and make the car roadworthy. Ockley have never shown any remorse for what they have done to my car nor two years on and taking them to court they never gave me my money back.

I have shared this review about my hellish experience with Ockley Classics because I do not want anyone else to have to go through what I have in the past two years so please do not make the mistake I did of trusting these classic car enthusiasts with your classics and hard-earned money because they should not be in business.

Jon did my car and I am so happy. He kept me updated on all work and went the extra mile to complete the work. Will definitely recommend him and use him again in the future
