I am not one to leave reviews, but after the terrible experience I've had with Ken Williams Motors, in Swansea, I really feel the need to.

After my campervan broke down on the M4 and was towed to the police compound, I was recommended to use their garage to get it repaired the following day.

The campervan is my full-time home so I talked to them on the phone first thing in the morning (8:30am), emphasizing that I needed it looked at as a matter of urgency.

From the first call, I was told that the van would be looked at in the next hour and I was confident that there would be a diagnosis by lunch time, and a quote for any repair. That would have given me enough time to organise the van being towed to me (two hours away from Swansea) if the quote was too high or if the repairs were to take several days. The main point was that I needed my home back to sleep in it as soon as possible.

After two hours and no call back, I rang again and was told that the boss was very busy. I apologised for pestering them but emphasized again that it was so important that they looked at it as soon as possible so that I know the next steps I was to take to have my van back, fixed or not fixed.

After ringing a third time and feeling sorry for pestering them, I stopped insisting and patiently waited for their call while increasingly worrying that I might not get my home back on that day.

At 3:30pm I finally received a call from "the boss". He offered no apologies for the time it took to look at it or any sort of sympathy, but instead suggested that the mechanics had struggled to open the bonnet of my van, saying "you should really get the lock fixed, it took us 20 minutes to open it". I had opened the bonnet in question within 2 minutes the previous day, when checking the levels before heading for the motorway and believe me, I am no mechanic.
He then told me what the fault in question was (EGR pipe that needed replacing) and that they had none in stock so it needed ordering. I asked for a quote and he was a little vague, saying that the part would be about £150 + labour and would come up to £480. He added that he wasn't sure whether the part would arrive on the next day (Friday) or on Monday. I enquired whether he could maybe order the part as an urgency and request for it to arrive on Friday, he replied that he didn't know whether it would arrive on Friday or Monday. Which I took for a 'no'. He also told me that the deadline for ordering the part was 3:55pm, which by the time we ended the conversation, left me about 10 minutes to decide whether I wanted to go ahead with this or not.

I told him that I wanted to have a quick chat with my partner for advice and that we would ring back straight away. Knowing that the deadline was so short, my partner told them to order the part. He then rang up our trustworthy local garage for a second opinion and they told them we were being overcharged. My partner rang Ken Williams back straight away and asked to cancel the order. This is when he was told that there would be a £60 + VAT charge because it took them half an hour to open the bonnet. My partner told them that we were going to arrange a breakdown recovery truck to pick up the van, but of course it was too late in the afternoon to get any company to recover the van before Ken Williams Garage closed (6pm).

We arranged the van recovery the next morning and to my surprise, the recovery rang me, saying that Ken Williams Motors were refusing to release my van because of an 'outstanding fee'.

We can 't praise Ken Williams Motors highly enough. Our 13.6 m trailer had a fault 18 miles away. Called Ken Williams at 1800. They were out to our vehicle and had it recovered in around 90 minutes for a very, very good price. They had the trailer repaired and ready for the road just after lunchtime the following day. Truly excellent. Very nice people and excellent service at a very good price. Thank you.

Campervan was leaking and leaving a trail of liquid in a car park. Concerned it may be serious we were recommended Ken Williams due to the size of the garage. They had fixed and cleaned up the van within an hour so we could continue our holiday. 100% would recommend.

I got a service here and told them my steering was a bit 'loose'. They charged me 90 pounds extra to tell me my front tyres were worn. They're more expensive than Halfords for a service.

Avoid this place unless you know about cars so you can't be ripped off.

Terrible place, took my car for MOT which failed I was then told they could not undertake the work to fix it. I emailed to complain and received a rude and shirty reply. Highly unprofessional and bad mannered. The guy on the desk was surly and unhelpful. Would not recommend. I then asked for an alternate dispute resolution this request was completely ignored!!! Clearly customer satisfaction means nothing!! What a disgrace.

Went to get collect car from garage and they lost my keys waited patiently for an hour for them to look for them in the meantime I was left feeling intimidated after the mechanic came out and told me I should have picked the car up the day before as work was complete then, even though nobody contacted me till that day, tried to blame me for them loosing my keys and made out as if I was the inconvenience. Husband rung to try and see what was happening proceeding this mechanic and another staff member came out to have a go at me because my husband had rung.

The worst customer service/attitude I have ever experienced. Main person on desk found my keys in another car eventually he was the only one who seemed to be helping and was polite.

I don't expect to pay over £400 then get my keys lost in which I was very understanding about I am forgiving that people make mistakes, but then to be talked to that was was disgusting.

Left garage upset, shocked and intimidated I will never deal with these again and never wish to be recovered form a company like this especially if I was at the side of the road alone.

Avoid! We broke down on route to our campsite in our campervan and were recovered by the RAC who took us here for the repair. We had to leave the van with them over night and find alternative accommodation for us and our dogs for the night. On collection of the van we found out the 'fix' they provided was incomplete and faulty, which meant we had to cut our holiday short and very slowly travel home. Since being home have been able to repair the van ourselves for a cost of £7 and 30mins labour Vs the extortionate bill from the garage. When we contacted the garage to complain they refused to give a refund and advised we should have returned to them, which was not an option due to this being our accommodation.
