Budget, but you get what you pay for.

Compared to other rental companies in Guildford you can usually rent from Europcar cheaper, by around 10 to 20 percent. But that's about the only reason to choose them.

I found a recent rental was a low spec car, despite being only 2 years old. It had no parking cameras and lacked things like an automatic brake (though I personally don't like them) or auto engine shutoff.

It wasn't clean; found chocolate in the dashboard cubby hole and what looked like permanent stains on the chairs.

Service was friendly but slow; a member of staff repeatedly interrupted a young staff member, partly to correct them. Both pick up and drop off took longer than I'd expect, for instance making me wait while they checked mileage and printing a paper invoice despite me not needing one.

If location is what's driving you to choose them, note that National aren't far East and Hertz aren't far South, and both offer a superior product, though you will probably pay a little more for it.

Usually used Thrifty who are excellent but on this occasion more expensive than Europcar quote. Pick up and car all fine, informed could drop car back on the Saturday afternoon and drop keys in after hours box. However, we were invoiced and subsequently charged for the additional 3 days until. Called the office up to raise this, told would be rectified and contacted. This was a week ago. Still having to chase them. Won't be using again.

Car turned up well before expected drop off time when I was at an inconvenience , it had unreported damage on and was not full of fuel so I had to waste my own time reporting the damage and filling the car.
Trying to return the car no one is answering the phones on hold twice for 5 minutes non stop other option is a foreign call centre where the lady had no idea what was going on (this is branch telephone).

utterly useless, courtesy car booked after accident and when chased were advised of delivery time changes 3 times only for them not to show up at all. Never answers the branch phone number and took an additional 24 hours to deliver a car. not great when you are without transport following a non fault accident. Would not use again

Absolutely do not recommend. Had an absolute disaster with my hire car on a Friday afternoon at 2pm. Turns out no one will be around to help you at that time…

The main Europcar switchboard initially sent out RAC to me, who arrived promptly but then told me that Europcar do not allow them to sort out tyres so it was a complete waste of my waiting time and RAC’s time too. They therefore had to leave me without any help now approaching 4pm…

Turns out everyone in the Guildford office must clock off early on a Friday though because I tried the Guildford extension 8-10 times between 3-5pm to request some assistance or a new hire car that worked…as I needed to get to my young cousins to babysit for the weekend and was currently stuck. I was automatically hung up on every single time without answer. I then tried every single other extension option available through the main Europcar switch board, everyone insisted that the only people who could help me with my hire car that was hired from the Guildford branch, was the Guildford branch. Therefore, despite my protesting that it didn’t work, each person I called tried to put me through to the Guildford branch and ended up putting me through to the same automated hang up a further 5/6 times.

What exactly do you expect a woman on her own with a car breakdown to do on a Friday afternoon if I am only able to speak to the Guildford office and in that office no one will answer the phones because they’ve logged off early to go have fun? and of course you prevent RAC from being able to help me too? Please do let me know…

I expect a hire service to provide good service. Otherwise there is absolutely no benefit of using you. At least using my own car, I am not “hand-cuffed” and ultimately prevented from having my own breakdown cover fix me when I’m stuck!! I will never use europcar again for fear of being stranded once again.

Brilliant customer service from this branch. Was not happy with the vehicle given from another branch but Tom Hayes sorted it out for me very quickly and organised another car. Also great customer service from Kirstie at the branch who was amazing once I arrived in branch. Great team!

Agreed for car to be delivered at 1200 on a Saturday. Waited around until 1330 before chasing this up, only to be told that the branch had closed and they wouldn't be able to deliver until Monday. Woeful.

Great place staff happy enough helped me out alot just remember to take your bank card especially on a Saturday place shuts at 1330
