Avis Car Hire - Norwich Airport

Really poor customer service. I returned a hired car to Avis Norwich airport branch , 3 weeks ago and I have still not received my deposit yet. My bank assured me that Avis hasn’t processed the refund. Avis when contacted continue to claim they have process my refund. I’m still waiting. I would stay far away from AVIS in the future , so should you .

So... I hired a car from Avis in Denver on 07/06/19 for 10 days, I was a bit worried to say the least with all the horrendous reviews I had read before hiring the vehicle . I used Avis as I don't own a credit card & wanted to pay using my debit card.

So here is my story... When I arrived @ Avis Denver I went straight to the counter (no que, like most of the horror reviews say) got told I could pay using a debit card as long as I had social security number (which I don't as I'm English) or an address in the USA (I gave my sisters address, where I was staying for 10 days) everything went through fine & I was told my vehicle would be pulled up to the front in about 5 mins as it was being washed, within 5 mins the vehicle arrived nice & clean & ready to go, I have got to say that it was spotless inside & out (again not like most of the reviews say) the car was BRAND NEW it had less than half a mile on the clock, so I was on my merry way for 10 days in the BRAND NEW Subaru Legacy. On returning the car I filled up with petrol (gas if your American) I presented them the receipt for the petrol (as to not wanting to get a charge for returning empty) the car was scanned back in with a bar code reader and everything was fine.

So the reason for my review is to say that the staff WERE HELPFUL the car WAS CLEAN & I would 100% recommend Avis & use them again, there was no pushy up sales or anything like that, in fact the assistant at the counter told me what to accept & what to decline.

We were bumped onto a later flight to Norwich which arrived after the Avis office had closed.
But Nicole very kindly offered to come back to the airport to allow us to still pick up our car.
And on top of that, Matt quickly helped us remove an erroneous charge that we didn’t notice until after we had dropped it off.
An A-plus effort all around.

The car was in excellent condition and the price was reasonable. I would like to see laminates placed in the glove compartment for things not common like the way the petrol hatch needed to be opened. Other items could be how to adjust wing mirrors, the console in the centre of the car (We had to google to find out how to operate all three as we had never had to use these things before). All in all, it was a positive experience, and the staff were friendly and helpful but didn't point out these things. They seemed more interested in telling me how the driver's seat could be adjusted automatically.

This is the First time I try Avis car hire, they were really good, easy process and very helpful staff. I although would recommen them you should keep in mine two things, you will still have to pay parking if you are using your own car to get to Norwich Airport £4 for half an hour! Also, the oil level light came up an hour and a half through my trip which I wasn't happy about, the last thing I need is to brake down and lose my flights, the should check these things before every rental. Overall, I will definitely try use thier services again. Thank you Avis.

The Norwich Airport staff are excellent, they demonstrate Customer service at it's highest and best.
The Ipswich depot used to be the same before it was closed too, which was a shame, as it was close to my home.
The LHR depot staff are also very helpful, it has improved noticeably since the Covid crisis.
Quick pass....is excellent, and works very well, saves lots of wasted time.
I'd like to see the delivery / collection service return, this was invaluable for people like me with limited time to spare, sadly, this was also a victim of the Covid period.
The online App however, is a pain in the neck to be blunt, it's clunky, not very user friendly, makes suggestions that are often of no practical use.
It needs to be binned and overhauled properly.
The reward points scheme also needs o be more user friendly if Avis want to use it to keep Customers onboard.... just saying..
Otherwise, I've used Avis for more than 15 years, I have tried other Companies, but I always seem to come back... 😁 !

A very friendly and easy car rental service. The Norwich Airport branch staff are very helpful and clarify any doubts. We also get the occasional upgrades and discounts which is great.
