I assumed from the noise getting louder from the back of my car I needed a new rear diff. After reading the many, many glowing reviews which suggested there was nowhere better than Bell Engineering I naturally booked it in with them.
The online booking system is awesome. It's a very easy process and the reminder text and email is a nice touch.
As soon as I arrived with them they took my car for a short drive, then put it on the ramp.
I'd already read that they have such a high level of knowledge they can identify problems quickly but seeing them demonstrate this was incredible! It took no time at all for them to show why they are the best. They reassured me that my diff was OK and that it was the way the tyres had worn which was the cause of my noise. I was shown the wear and how it occurred was described to me in a way I could understand.
I'm certain that most businesses similar (but inferior) to Bell would have just replaced the diff and charged me accordingly so it was refreshing to not be ripped off. I fully expected to be charged for the full 2.5 hour slot I'd booked but this wasn't the case.
I wish more businesses were like Bell Engineering. They're friendly, honourable, skilful, knowledgeable and customer focused.
As my Freelander gets older, I'm sure I'll have the pleasure of letting them fix it! For the services they offer I wouldn't think of taking it anywhere else even though they're 130 miles away!!
Well done and thank you.
I just wanted to write to call out the amazing service I received from Bell Engineering just before Xmas.
I was having a dog of a time trying to get rid of a horrible “grauching” noise at low speeds when turning.
Local garage charged me £550 to change diff oils etc but made no difference.
A bit of research suggested the Haldex was the issue.
Time to call in the experts…
A 220 round mile trip to Bell Engineering proved to be time and money well spent.
They have the Haldex a “proper” service and replaced the oil (the garage I normally use had used the wrong oil) and sorted out an issue with the seal.
£220 all in and Freddie is as good as new!
If anyone is else is having similar issues do give Austin and family a call, they absolutely live and breathe Freelander transmissions so if anyone can help you, it is them!
