Took my mums car in for a diagnostic on an electrical fault last Wednesday (19th), didn't hear anything from them for a day and a half so rung up to be told somebody would ring me back - nobody did, so I rang again to be told they were going to get a donor car door delivered on Saturday to swap parts over so "won't be looked at till Monday now probably". I waited all day Monday for somebody to ring me - nobody did, so I rang them to be told the door didn't turn up and that somebody was going out to get a door that day and they would ring me back - nobody did, so I rang them and this time they said that nobody had got the door and they would be going to get it Tuesday (25th) morning. I explained that they had had the car for 6 DAYS now and my mum needed it back by lunchtime on Wednesday (26th) at the latest because she had to go somewhere. Was told ok, we will ring you back - nobody did, so I rang them back to find out what was happening, to be told "they are not getting the door until 10am so it probably won't be ready for lunchtime on Wednesday". I said ok we will come and collect the car.
Today I took the door card off the door to have a look for myself to find this mess (see picture). A cut wire that had been twisted together with no insulation, the wiring harness had been butchered and left un-attached to the door and the harness tape removed and not replaced. And also an oily rag stuffed under the passenger seat. I can only think that this was done out of spite that they couldn't fix the problem and just wanted the car out of the way.
Overall, a terrible experience by a bunch of cowboys. All it would have taken was a bit of HONESTY and COMMUNICATION.
I can only think that the positive feedback given by others are friends and relatives of people that work there and not genuine customers.
An MOT was done by the garage itself and passed with "no advisories".
Within a couple of days, had a problem with the throttle system of the car and the EML came on and took it to a garage for a full point check.
The garage found underneath the car was full of rust! This was all covered with black spray paint so it would not be visible. The garage found numerous other problems which were covered up with aftermarket products and ensured no way this would pass an MOT.
Has been a month since the purchase and have been to several garages to make it fit for the road.
Paul has been cutting off my calls every time I call and have no other option now but to report the garage to the trading authorities.
Not only this but falsely given and old V5C on purchase so could not register my car without filling in a V62 form.
I was confident buying from Paul seeing the positive reviews of the garage and thought no way a garage would do such as thing!!!
