Greystoke Flooring LTD

Mysteriously, this is the second time we have tried to post a review (my husband posted the first which never appeared?) which suggests how strongly I feel about the service received from Greystoke Carpet & Floorings.

We are flooring our entire downstairs and visited Greystoke to look at samples of engineered wood, as well as lino for the kitchen. Our experience in the shop was fine and we made some selections we liked. First available appointment with someone called Ian, who seems to be the 'sales' guy was a few weeks wait but that was fine and we booked it. Come the appointment time, Ian never showed up but did phone about 15 minutes later to say that he was having van trouble and was waiting for the AA. He would wait to see if they would take long to fix it and then judge whether to still call out that evening or not. We said that was fine and would wait to hear back. We never heard from Ian again that night or the next day. I phoned him and arranged a new appointment. He wasn't overly apologetic about the lack of communication and not calling us back as he promised.

The new appointment was made for a week later. Ian never showed up. No phone call either. My husband left a message on the shop phone as there was no mobile on the business card. He asked for a call back and an explanation of what was going on. We got nothing, no explanation, no excuses. No contact at all. We weren't going to continue to chase them and we certainly weren't going to spend almost £2,000 with them. Just bizarre. A few weeks later and we still haven't heard from them and never will now, I'm sure. Greystoke Carpet & Floorings simply wasn't bothered, it seems and fully deserve a negative review. It's just the strangest and shoddiest service from a business and means that I have to warn people against using this company.

Superb personal service from start to finish. Was particularly impressed that a Director turned up half way through the job to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Competitive pricing too. Delighted we supported a local business and would definitely do so again. A great experience all round.

A fabulous family run business. I have nothing but praise for Greystoke! From their professionalism to their cooperation and more... I have had 3 carpets fitted now by Liam who’s work is absolutely faultless. Management from Mary and Darren is superb, nothing would ever be seen a issue for either of them. I am truly loyal to this company mainly for showing great work and always dependable. They also have a sister company for home improvements which I can’t help but indulge in also Paul can take a standard home and make a fabulous show home in no time. Great work as always! This has by far been the worst experience for us when dealing with any vendor. The workmanship is awful but the even worst thing is the unprofessional and demeaning customer service.
We asked them to lay down Karndean flooring. The work was done with below average standards. The nightmare started when they took out doors to lay down the tiles, and did not put them back. They then started chasing us for the remaining payment. We asked them to finish the job (i.e. to put the doors back). Their response - we can’t put them up now. Why? - because they had lost the fittings (special screws which are not easily available) of the doors. Their response? - they did not care as long as they get paid !!!!
We finally paid them off requesting them never to show their face again. We then bought the fittings off internet and got another handyman to come over to fix the doors for us.
We dealt with atleast 10 different vendors during the renovation of our house. And Greystoke was the only horrible experience.

Fantastic work from Greystokes, they fitted my studio workspace perfectly. They worked quick and done the fitting with no problems.
Even the customer service was great and helped me organise and pick the best choice to suit my workspace.

Don’t waste your time going anywhere else! This family run business looks after you from the customer service in the showroom to the aftercare and help provided after the fitting.

Good service in store, with competitive prices, better value than John Lewis, and the quality of the fitting for an Amtico floor and 2 bedroom carpets was faultless.
