Friendly staff, had Justin out to the house to measure whilst we viewed the house.

He carried out all necessary measurements within 5-10 mins!

In store then, shown lots of samples, selected one we liked.

Total price for 3 bed was £1700

The gentleman was helpful pointing out the difference between 2 carpets we liked and what would be better for living room. He gave us lots of information. We like to support our local shops too.

I have used this shop in the past. When I went there in Oct 2020 the first man I saw was great but when I went to order the carpet a younger chap didn't seem bothered if I made a purchase or not. I went there again in January 2022 we looked at the flooring for about 30mins and the whole time no one offered assistance even though it was quiet. There was a carpet we liked which I took a photo of with the suppliers name on. I googled it and ordered a sample. The website mentioned another supplier in the area whom I've had wonderful service from.

Gave good advice for my needs.
Which I will purchase from this shop. Are going to moisture test my new floor then measure and fit new ground floor carpet. Also hall stairs & landing when ready.
Always support local when they are this good.

I decided to use this company to support my local business.
Sadly the young person I spoke to was less than helpful, he just sat at the desk with a miserable face. He didn't offer any advice or ask me what I needed. when I pointed out the carpet I like he just took my details and payment, not even a thank you. I had to ask what time the fitters were coming and if I had to pay separately.
After the service [or lack of it] I received I will not be using this shop again and will not be recommending them.

Apologies for the long post that's going to follow.
We initially started speaking to Dan at Richard Jones in January about fitting our flooring throughout our new build house that would be ready in March. We did have to do quite a bit of chasing and back and fourthing but this was put down to the fact of Covid and not being able to go into the shop and get it done there and then. Dan was helpful with us at the beginning, helping us pick flooring carpet based on images we shared, but as mentioned, we did find we had to do more chasing than we would've liked for quotes, had thing been ordered etc.
When it came down to fitting we were really let down. The carpet fitters didn't fit the runner as asked, there had obviously been a communication issue between the shop and the fitters as they had no idea. They also didn't trim the doors and said the laminate fitter would do this. The same day the laminate fitter was a no show (not the shops fault at all), and we get it, these things happen. However it was delaying us moving in and with our lease up we were obviously keen to get another person in ASAP. Again we had to do a lot of chasing to establish details. A fitter was eventually sorted for the following week. The laminate was not fit to a good standard at all. We had requested herringbone and that had been clear since we initially spoke to Dan. After the floorers had left we had no door bars, there were gaps between the slats, the beading was awfully done, and the flooring hadn't been cut properly around the stairs so there were holes, which the floorers had stuffed with loose fluff off the stairs to hide them. We let Dan know and provided photos in which he agreed the standard was shoddy and he would liase with the fitting company to resolve. We were told these were specialist herringbone floor fitters who had fitted this style of flooring before. When the fitter came back to fix, he told us this was the first herringbone job he had done (???). This time around he fitted some door bars for us that we had to get ourselves but Dan said he would refund us for, which was fair enough. Afterwards the flooring was a better standard but if I was being picky, some of the beading was still a bit naff. This became clear when less than a week later some of the beading came away completely. We let Dan know but had given up at this point so said we would fit it ourselves, Dan apologised and said he would sort the refund and run it down to us as it would have to be in cash. It would again be weeks of chasing before we gave up and my partner drove to the shop just so this could be over with and got the refund.
Dan did knock some money off the total price for us which was one of the positives and a nice goodwill gesture.
I would like to think this was a series of unfortunate events but it seemed to many mistakes to be coincidence. I understand we aren't the only customer on at any given time and that you guys are very busy, but a quick text to say 'I'm really busy, I'll get back to you on X day' doesn't take long. I'd also consider the fitters you're working with as they aren't transparent with you.

Overall I wouldn't suggest Richard Jones to friends or family, which is a shame as they came highly rated to us. I have to say I was relieved to see the back of this saga.
