It's free, so you can't complain at the price, but it's also well worth a visit. Very interesting to see the way it was built, not your traditional castle build. Farnham is a lovely little town to wander around in after aswell

Brilliant. Well looked after, there's so much history here it was hard to digest what it's been through.

We came to the castle for a wedding. The castle was beautifully decorated and the service was great. By far offering the best wedding food I've had so far. Great service as well.

A really great historical place to visit. The best part is the exhibition room. You can listen to audio for a complete history of this castle. Also there is an screen showing how castle structure changed over different time periods in history.
There is very well explanation of history.

Inside its not only interesting bit also very beautiful!
There is a place open to public for different family events also.
A cafe is also located there which really contain good food !

Highly recommend this place!

Farnham Castle was built around 1138 by Henri de Blois, Bishop of Winchester, grandson of William the Conqueror.

For hundreds of years, it served as an administrative centre, fortress and accommodation, providing a convenient stopping place between London and Winchester.

After 1660, the Palace became the Bishop’s principal residence. Many English monarchs, from King John to Queen Victoria have visited or stayed at Farnham Castle.

Farnham castle is very popular for private events and weddings.

Entry is free and open Monday to Friday between 9 am and 5 pm or dusk if earlier.

At the weekends from 10 am till 4 pm.

The castle keep is closed from 24th December to 31st January.

There are toilet facilities on the site.

We have parked on Farnham castle carpark. It is not very big and free of charge. The grounds are well kept.

The stairs to the top can be a little challenging, but doable. :)

The views from the top are breath taking.

Allow yourself about 30-45 min for this visit as it is not very big, but worth visiting for sure!

900 years of history at an old English ruin. The site is well kept and the gardens surrounding it are spectacular. The free exhibition hall is worth visiting as lays out the history.

This Castle is good for a visit there is a lot of history here, it is free to park and visit the ruins. Walking distance from Farnham Town although it is a steep climb up to the Castle, or just a few minutes by car or Motorhome
