Golden Star

When I was considerably younger and my go to hangout was Tuffley shops I would often pop into Golden Star for "Fried Rice & Curry Sauce on a tray." I'm 50 now and thankfully grown out of hanging out in front of Tuffley shops but I still enjoy the Golden Star (although I no longer order the fried rice and curry sauce on a tray.)

Anyhow, I would use the words consistent & tasty when describing the Golden Star. Whether it be Fish & Chips, a Chinese dish or a burger the food is consistently good and extremely tasty. Portions are great, service is quick and the staff are lovely. Only a few days ago I had fish & chips, my wide had a burger and my parents in law had the sweet and sour chicken. It was all great food, actually the sweet and sour chicken was exceptional. It also has parking directly out front. Taking everything into account, food, hygiene, service, staff and parking - easy 5 stars

Been using this place for years! Never let me down and always been great food! But past two times now have been awful! 1st food wasn't up to usal standard at all, and now this time I'm currently waiting and it's been just over two hours! And not even turned up! Rang twice and just got told it be with you shortly! Two hours and over isn't shortly! Total disappointment! Will not be using again after 25 years and more!

Amazing food, will only order from here from now on chicken chow mein, beef curry, egg fried rice nd sweet and sour chicken balls everything tasted so good and was pipping hot had to ring up and say thanks to chef x

Very good food. Some dishes are spicy and tasty, so ask them before you want to try. I loved it.

just recently bought a “large” chips from here. not large at all! the portion was near enough small. such an unhappy customer will not be returning. so overpriced aswell for such a small portion!

i asked for a large chips for 3 people and the portion is really small and i saw chips in a orange bucket on the floor where flies can leave feises in there im very unhappy with the poor service.

Used to be really nice, the chow mein i’ve had the past couple of times is vile. Much spicier than usual. I’m not sure how you can charge that much for food that doesn’t taste good. The chicken balls are like rubber, like they’ve been warmed up. ordered it and it got to the door within 20 mins, wasn’t very hot either. very disappointed.
