Chung Ying House

Tasteless food, definitely the worst Chinese I have ever had. We ordered two starters, a rice and two mains - it all went in the bin. The beef actually smelt off. Anyone who rates this has clearly not tasted food from a decent Chinese restaurant. I did call them to inform them I thought the beef was off, but they weren't interested - "if you don't like it, you don't have to come back". Avoid for the sake of your taste buds and your health

The worst Chinese I have ever tasted. I used to be a regular customer and have lived locally all my life but over the years Alex has completely disappointed time and time again. The last time I ordered food it was inedible and when I phoned to complain had it put down on me. This level of professionalism only shows just how much Alex cares for his customers.

Just ordered, they had it delivered wonderfully on time, but... No utensils, tissues, my ribs were supposed to be just a bit bbq-ed(they went with full bbq instead) will try again tomorrow.

Worst £22.50 I've ever spent. Absolutely horrible food. The prawns tasted frozen the bbq ribs were bone dry? I literally just closed it all back up and binned it. Horrible food. Staff seemed friendly tho...

Fine until it goes wrong.
We've eaten here before and the food was nice.
Last week the lady who answered the phone was new, flustered and couldn't work out the menu. The delivery arrived an hour later than expected (after we phoned to check where it was twice) and the driver said it was chaos as almost every order had gone out wrong. He charged me nearly double the menu cost, and asked me to check the food and call back the following day.
Our "vegetarian meal" consisted of prawn dumplings, beef chow mein and a load of rice. We called to get it changed but had no reply.
The following day I phoned. I explained I wasn't complaining (we all have bad days) but would just like a refund for the meat dishes which went in the bin.
This is where it went wrong. The (different) woman who answered was rude and defensive. She cut me off at the start of every sentence and when I asked her not to, she said she didn't want me to waste my time continuing as she didn't believe a word I was saying (these were her exact words!) . I explained that I had been asked to call to resolve this and she said that she thought this was highly unlikely.
I asked to leave my number for the people who had spoken to me on the night of the order to call me back and she said it was a waste of time as no-one would bother.
We've been lucky to find a lovely takeaway nearby to use instead. I liked the food at Chung Ying but I just can't order from a place who are so totally disinterested in, and rude to, their customers.
So 4 stars for the chef, but 0 for customer service.

I didn't even know there was a chinese food store this close - I usually order from the Malaysian place in CSG. Popped in after a long day's work with one of my mates, and we both order our usual chinese order, and the cashier said what I assumed was £17.70 in a strong Chinese accent. Sounds about right, so I tap my card, and I sit down. Moments later, I get a notification from my phone saying it was £22.20! But we got our food quickly and my sweet n sour chicken was cooked to perfection, so that's my only complaint. Just make sure to clarify the price before swiping any cards 😅

Favorite dish is salt and pepper chicken, such a good price for a big portion and the boss will even put extra samosas for free!
I highly recommend this place.

such a big menu, and im never disappointed when i order from there. I really like the satay sauce stir fry chicken dish! you should order it.
