Mei's Kitchen Lightwater

This takeaway has been taken over by new management, the food in my opinion is not as good, but in comparison is far more expensive, unfortunately I will not be using again. Disappointing..!!

We found the menu D for one person had changed under new management. The price has gone up from £8 to £11, which is a big jump, but to justify that you get a bigger portion of beef in black bean sauce! However, you now only get five chicken balls instead of the usual six, which is annoying when you share the whole thing between two people. The sweet and sour sauce for the chicken balls was runny and cloyingly sweet and tasted like diluted jam - nothing sour about it - and the black bean sauce was so salty I almost took it back to Mei's. Also, they have started closing on Tuesdays, which is the very day that fits into our schedules. Very disappointing - we've loved Mei's and been customers for years.

We haven’t been for a while , the food was awful and so we returned the food ! We were told if we’d eaten it we wouldn’t get a refund so we got food out of the bin the lady was so rude and not worried at all about what was wrong with the food ! They are new owners , new management and the customer service was appalling!
The chicken was very suspect , not cooked and the crispy chilli beef was like jelly , then to return it to let them know we didn’t get a full refund .
We definitely will not be returning as we were told to try some where else !

Really need to sort out whatever you're using as chicken. It's limps and rubbery - we thought the first time was a one off, second time around realise it's not. Won't order again until this is sorted out. Other offerings were fine.

Ordered two beef chow meins's yesterday evening and the taste and smell of burning/burn food from it was awful most went straight to bin.
Last time for me. Yuck

The food at Mei's is consistently excellent! Consequently, they are very popular, so sometimes you can wait up to an hour at peak times. I therefore recommend you phone your order in early. They don't deliver, which is my only complaint! They are only a 5 minute drive, so it's not far for me to go. Prawn crackers are now free with your order! 🥳
