During my second trimester of preganancy, I started having rib pain. It got worse as I progressed and baby was pushing against my ribs. Then I had three sudden episodes of severe costochondritis pains, particularly in the sternum, that I had to rush to hospital in the middle of the night and had problems breathing. Nurses and doctors were worried it was a heart attack, so had to perform all sorts of tests for an hour or so - good thing I was in the clear, but the experience was scary and painful. They diagnosed it as costochondritis, and could only perscribe paracetamol which I already was taking.
I was worried I would have another episode of severe chest pains. Luckily my husband found Sayer Clinic online, and we booked with Maria who is well experienced with pregnant women and costochondritis.
I'm quite shy about my body but Maria has been amazing at making me feel comfortable. She listened to my problems and targeted the exact areas on my ribs. She has been massaging each rib and helped me on some back pains I was experiencing. I felt so much better afterwards, like my chest and ribs had opened up. My husband even commented that I was standing taller too, which I didn't even realise my posture improved straight after. When I started stretching again, after Maria's massage I felt I could actually stretch properly and my muscles around my ribs weren't restraining me anymore.
I've been going almost weekly and since the first time I had a massage from Maria, my costochondritis severe chest pain episodes haven't come back! She's a life saver!
I am so happy I found Sayer Clinic and don't have to fear those terrible painful chest pains anymore. Also so thankful to Maria for helping me immensely, she feels like a great warm hearted friend. I look forward to seeing her every week.
After about 9 months of treatment, despite not always being a model patient in terms of respecting the reccomendations I was given, and despite working a software engineering job that puts a lot of strain on my back and neck, I would say I'm around 80% cured: I am now pain-free on more days than not, I can do all of the things that I stopped doing because of my condition, and I can see a very near future in which my costochondritis is a thing permanently consigned to the past.
I cannot reccomend this clinic any higher, if you have costochondritis, or any other similar condition.
