After travelling all morning, finally reached the beautiful churchyard in shotwick I had been advised to go on many an occasion However, on that Thursday last week, the church was invaded by a noisy, uncouth family of four adults and four children, who proceeded to treat the place like a playground Noisily and disrespectfully running around I sat in quiet contemplation despairing of this show of contempt for others . I shall return, hopefully without chavs from hell destroying the wonderful ambience of this magnificent place.

Lovely old church with lots of interesting things to see, like the box pewes which were designed for individual families, and marks on the walls by the door were they sharpened there arrows after Sunday service

Lovely medieval Grade 1 listed church and graveyard in the quiet Cheshire village of Shotwick. The village is on the English and Welsh border in an area cut off from everywhere else and making it a really peaceful place to visit. Inside the porch you can see marks in the sandstone walls where longbow archers sharpened their arrows during the reign of Edward the third. It's located, about a mile off the busy A550, but so tranquil when you get there.

Lovely old church. Sadly it wasn't open when we went but interesting to see the arrow marks by the door.
