Lovely church, but I think the most interesting and poignant feature is in the lower churchyard, many, many years ago (a hundred at least I imagine), someone was thoughtful enough to plant there English yew trees in the shape of a cross, creating a crossed avenue of the trees.
There are larger trees around the clearing, and bearing in mind how slow yew grows in shade, I doubt they even had a glimpse of what they would become, but they had the vision to know they were doing something special for future generations, and to respect all those generations that had gone before in this local community.
They are now a quiet, shaded oasis of calm, take a moment to visit, stand within the crossed avenue of trees, and ponder the gift that was given by someone so many years ago that you can enjoy today.

Beautiful old church especially on a sunny day like this
