St Margaret's Church at Whatfield ia a Grade 1 listed building from C13-C14 with a plain west tower with a tiled pyramid roof. In the early C14 the church was enlarged probably by Thomas de Cokefield who was a very wealthy local landowner as a result of the wool industry. The timber vaulting contains 15 well preserved circular carvings from that time. These depict St Margaret the King Edward and his Queen Isabella in the centre line. The church is normally open daily for viewing

It is what it is...a somewhat neglected village church!.
