Gone downhill since my last visit approx 4 months ago. Sizing is really off and has shrunk. Quality for price is poor to. Straight cut jeans available in off trend colours dark shapeless blue and a dim electric type blue which is a strange blue for denim. Why do straight leg jeans have to be so frumpy? Nice pair of relaxed jeans although a little thin for denim, the fit and slightly faded denim colour were very good, no rips in them either which was bonus. Unfortunately it seems Matalan do womens clothes for the younger aged trends short, ripped, figure hugging or Doris Frump! I'm not sure who designs their ranges or where they get ideas from but they don't seem to be very runway inspired for most. Nice colour purples but the styles were off! No proper reds, checks or plaid for casual, smart or work styles. Mens clothing, again the sizing were way off! There were smart, frump and low end skateboard but the prices were not that cheap in comparison to other retailers and the quality not good. Why have they replaced their Easy section with even worse aw85 I think ?? Those sizes are way off the mark! I would say that there is not much separating Matalan from Asda's George clothing except George are slightly better with sizing and Matalan do not do the loud unwearable prints that George womens clothes do! Matalan study the runway looks for the seasons, get inspired. You are starting to look very 'market stall' with your choice of materials and designs!

Took a skirt back that I bought in Southampton to Eastleigh to exchange and to buy a coat that they did not have in my size in Southampton branch and a dress that i liked. Massive queue with only two cash desks open and after waiting for quite a while I decided to leave without exchanging or buying the extra items. This is not the first time I have left without purchasing. My husband was with me and had jogging bottoms and pyjama bottoms which were also left. Not great customer service!

From shockingly poor parking facilities, to super slow checkouts, this place is just awful. Don't get me wrong, their stock is fine, but the whole shopping experience is ruined by the abysmally, time consuming, queues at point of payment.

Upon arrival I counted 9 people in the queue...OK, not great...3 tills open out of a possible 5. 8 minutes later, having failed to find the shoes I wanted; I headed back to my car. In those intervening minutes, the queues had increased to over 20 people!!!

And still only 3 tills were being utilised.

1st visit in 18 years...probably my last.

Love what Matalan has to offer as a company in terms of products, but the Eastleigh store's queues and only one person on the till habit is horrendous and no one is ever happy having to deal with it from what I've witnessed, even with the self-serves which can also be a bit temperamental with loyalty cards and the like.

As someone who's also had two job interviews here, it has also been pretty horrendous, being totally ghosted after both despite sending emails pleading for feedback and being promised by the supervisors that I was interviewed by that I'd hear back by a certain date, the 2nd interviewer just talking at me the whole time and telling me I'm rude for trying to converse back as I had spoken over her a few times when I thought she'd finished talking at me! Sorry for being involved in the process I guess!

I was also told that a girl who had been working here longer deserved the hours more than me for her loyalty which was a bit of a kick in the teeth to hear in an interview too, as someone who's been nothing but accomodating and loyal at work themselves!

Was greeted with ’Is it a return?’ when went to till. I replied that the self serve tills weren’t accepting my card. The till then didn’t accept my card. Knowing full well that my card works fine, I conveyed this. Twice the cashier told me my card was faulty, to which I responded ‘You’ve told me that twice already’. The reply was for me not to be so rude, to which I replied she shouldn’t speak to me like that. ‘I’m not serving you’ she said and stropped off. I’m the meantime my husband used his card, and I helped myself to the receipt.
Her two young colleagues looked mortified at her behaviour when I asked for her name. I think Judy needs to have some further customer training.
I then used my card in another store, no problem at all……..

Suit department had no stock. Any thing they do have doesn't match trousers to jacket. Really poor
