Matalan

Very large store. Has kids, ladies, men, and homeware. I don't particularity like their fashion. I find it too boring and simple. But I do like their home stuff. They're is large free car park
But the selection of older/teen boys selection is shocking in the store. No wonder people buy online more than in store. Very disappointing.

Its a nice big store with plenty of room to get a good look at what your buying, nice stuff

This Matalan store is superb, good quality clothing sold at affordable prices, a large shared car park which does get busy but when I went this time which was at 6pm was quite and many spaces available. Staff are normally friendly and can answer any questions. Peak times the queue to pay gets long which is to be expected. Stock rotation is regular so there is always something new in here. Apart from the home furnishing and clothing for men, women and kids they have many useful items here such as batteries, sunglasses and even hand sanitiser. You can also check out yourself at the self service checkout which is fairly straight forward. I find this branch to be clean and the staff friendly. Overall always a pleasure here. Perfect and I rate it 5 stars.

Queued 5 minutes for self-checkout but item, which was labeled for £6 got charged for £6.50. So I had to wait even longer for staff. They seemed to be not surprised or apologetic and made it sound like it's a common theme. Whilst they refunded me, this is a clear sign that this is either setup or they are not fixing their problems!

Great selection of clothes and household goods at reasonable prices. Kids selection really good, including for tiny babies. Quality of the clothes is good and the homeware stuff lasts and often sales or offers on Good amount of parking, although shame no parent and child spaces. Tills are now mainly self service, which does mean fewer staff around, leading to delays if need assistance, or want to do a click and collect.

Everytime I walked into the store the staff were incredibly unfriendly and not smiling at all.

Whenever you go to the counter you can always hear the staff talk between themselves. They do not greet customers but in the end just ask for the amount due to pay. Today I was served by Sylvia who was not smiling not engaging in a conversation and there was no customer service at all!

Customer service is 0 at the Matalan store in Crawley! I love to shop there but due to the staff many times I chose to go elsewhere...

Perhaps management can train the staff with some customer service skills!

Can normally find an item, very inexpensively...v

I am currently 7.5 months pregnant and really badly needed to use a toilet in Matalan in Crawley, I asked two members of staff if I could use their toilet, and answer was: "no, find yourself one, we don't have any toilets". Then I asked if they had staff toilet that I could use? And the reply was: "we do have our own staff toilet but we will not open it for you". To top this all they have told me it is definitely not against the law to not let pregnant women to use the toilet in the shop. I nearly wet my self... I couldn't believe this awful attitude from extremely horrible unhelpful staff towards pregnant women. Considering they have a baby clothes section, so presumably wish to welcome mothers-to-be as customers, how badly the staff treats pregnant women there is appalling.
The particular staff in this case: an older blond women and younger dark hair chap, both worked on click and collect point on 29/12/2021 at about 15:15.
