Everyone at Shepherd & Woodward were so helpful and kind throughout the process leading up to the wedding and afterwards. We hope to be shopping with them again very soon whenever we need lovely clothing for special occasions.
Toby & Sarah.
And I do agree with previous comment, store felt a bit unwelcoming if you don’t fit a ‘profile’
Woman over 35 entering at the shop with a child, waiting at the till to ask for help and being deliberately ignored for the members of staff who were literally doing nothing and standing couple of meters away.
At the beginning I did not realised what was happening but a couple of minutes was evident to me that I was being ignored. Once I was aware of this I kept waiting and observing the staff behaviour to give them the opportunity to prove me wrong, but it only clarified my impression. They were aware of me, it was impossible not to. They chose not to approach or serve me. When I finally had to call for their attention I was helped in a very unwelcoming way, I would say even rude, considering the attitude.
I have lived in small and big cities around four countries, and never ever have experienced this treatment in customer service in my life! I felt openly discriminated and treated as a second class citizen having not clue why. Was it for my age? My size? My shape? My style? My color of skin? My hair? My child? Because I was a woman? My other shopping bags??? They did not have any other information about me apart from my appearance! They didn’t even say hello to have at least the advantage to hear my accent before make any conclusions… Therefore, respectable owners of Shepper&Woodward, if you do not call this discrimination, so how do you call it??? We all will appreciate to have a well deserved explanation.
The worst part is that after checking the reviews of this shop, it seems that this is a persistent situation openly tolerated, if not promoted by the owners and people in charge of this business even from years ago! (Just check the reviews). Otherwise, I do not find explanation why is this still happening today. This corporative culture is a shame and absolutely unacceptable under any circumstances. I’ll make sure to write to whoever is necessary to report and make this know.
