Stayed two night stay, for a family Wedding. Two guests from our party are Phyllis’s Court members. I was given first floor balcony bedroom over looking river Thames, splendid room, very clean. Bed, most comfortable as they are top range foam mattress. The part of the hotel I was in is the oldest part of the building, so be mindful, that the plumbing etc can take some time to respond. My room was number 6. The staff are all dedicated to giving the guests and PC club members the best quality of service. The breakfast on both mornings was most enjoyable, with top quality standard of choice. I would recommend The Full English and the smoked salmon on scrambled eggs. We didn’t eat dinner in the hotel, but we’re told by other Wedding guests, it was top quality. I would recommend anyone, wanting to stay in Henley this hotel/exclusive club.

Location is beautiful but it has not been refurbished in the last 50 years and it feels to be in a nice care home more than in an hotel. Average age of guests is well over 70s
Humble advice is to try to modernise a bit and attract members below 70 years old

I’m so let down. I’ve been coming to this place for years. But something terrible has changed.
Now there’s always a long wait to order as staff shortage which there never was.
Sometimes you can get food sometimes not. No consistency between staff stories!
The food which has always been reasonably priced has suddenly rocketed and not inline with the 2 1/2 percentage inflation rate. Over 100 percent. Even the joining fee and membership fees. I asked a senior member of staff if this was still a members club at which point she stepped back rapidly and said she was not allowed to say. How suspicious!
Many many changes which are not in favour of the members.

This is a very upscale place yet the staff was very friendly. It is a beautiful area where we could watch the rowers.

As a hotel guest it was confusing to be asked constantly 'are you a member'. I suspect I was repeatedly asked this passive aggressively. You've opened your doors to the public so accept the house rules will get bent a little and we may not actually know them.. We mean you no harm!
My request for a river view room on Phyllis Court booking site wasn't acknowledged or politely declined at reception. I assumed I'd been assigned such until we got to the room. No such luck. Room was small and dated but very clean and bright. The bed had the most amazing mattress which was very appreciated. However, there was no getting away from the fact we'd been placed at rear of hotel with view of the kitchen roof. The constant whirr of the extractor fan continued until well after 11 and was woken again by it early morning. Probably not an issue in winter but on a warm evening with the windows open there was no escape. The room fan supplied looked like something borrowed from a 1980's office and was louder than the kitchen fan so it was quickly returned to the wardrobe.
We're in our fifties which placed us in the lower end of the guest age bracket. Not a problem but I'd consider taking young or small children here unless they're very well behaved.
Super close to town with a gate taking you along a path to the edge of the centre.
We didn't take dinner but the breakfast selection and standard was excellent. The waiting on staff were lovely.
Top tip though. Please invest in blinds for the conservatory. Everyone sat one end to avoid the sun. Shame as the views of the river are beautiful.
Overall the hotel had a slight feeling of a posh boarding school/care home but I would still recommend.
Thank you
