Dropped the lad off at football and needed get back for the match so opted for a take out option. Must say, the place is nice and the food looked good, but this review is about the coffee.
Ordered a "large black / americano".
Didn't have to wait, couple of minutes most, so can't complain as was serving seated customers.
I was given a tiny 8oz cup - I asked if it was a large and was asked if I'd ordered a flat white. When I said no, the lady looked confused and replied "ooh, they're all standard sized anyway" - cut a long story short, I'd paid £2.90 for a tiny black coffee.
That said, if it was a good coffee, I wouldn't be overly upset...
The coffee was watery, flavourless and definitely under extracted, its obvious the person making the coffee has been on a basic barista course with no real skill and the consistency there is not the same as you'd expect with chains where the process is mostly automated to ensure consistency.
I've got years of coffee brewing experience and it's a real passion of mine and I'd always favour the underdogs, the local coffee shops over any chain, but from today's experience, next time I'll go to McDonald's or Costa next door for a better coffee.
See the picture of the tiny coffee... If at the point of ordering I was told they don't do large, we only do 8oz cups, I'd have opted for a flat white or something more exciting than a black coffee, so feel let down from a Customer Service point of view as well being given a poor, tiny coffee ☕️
A more welcoming/ informative entrance would be appreciated. Table service or order at counter not apparent.
Coffee, flat white was a little off balance. Tasted like too long a shot.
Shakshuka was great albeit sans butter for the sourdough.
Angry Mac was great but needed a little something. Slightly on the dull side. I think possibly the “angry Mayo” on this occasion was a little past it’s premium. A slight sweetness to this sauce would have differentiated this meal from the average brioche-bound burger.
A great experience nonetheless. Highly recommended.
Nice friendly staff, modern style decor, good selection of food in coffee shop style.
I went for the bear breakfast, which is served all day.
It was not a great big English style but a tasty one just the same: a couple of sausage poached egg, spiced bear beans, crispy smoked bacon, mushroom, sourdough toast and tomatoes.
Plenty for a light lunch, all washed down with a nice coffee.
My wife had the fish finger sandwich, which she was very happy with, and said it was really tasty. It came with a side bowl of little potato croquettes
Couldn't tell you what the prices are for the food, but the cappuccino was £3. About what you'd expect at most places.
The service was good, and the place was busy. I'm very likely to call her again
I had the Potato Bennie and my friend had the Revival Bowl, of course we had to taste each others and both were very tasty 😋 🙂🙂
They offered a bowl of water for the dog but forgot to bring it over, not a big deal as I had some of my own for him.
Easy to order from the QR code on the table and quick service.
Really enjoyed our meal and will be visiting again to try the other options 🙂❤️
