Google Review of Mr Remigijus Matuzas (also known as Remi
Matuzas) who now trades as B Interiors and is sole Director

I employed Mr Remi Matuzas (who is now trading as B Interiors) to carry out a full house renovation/extension. At the time I believed that I had taken due care to ensure that the project ran smoothly.

I signed a detailed contract with Mr Remi Matuzas, on behalf of B Lofts (which was the company he was trading under at the time), outlining all the work to be done with reference to detailed planning drawings.

The contract stated exact timescales for the project duration and penalties if the project overran.

The contract allowed for stage payments to be made based on the percentage of works carried out at the house, with a final payment and snagging payment payable after the job had been completed.

It soon became apparent that even though I believed the contract I signed protected me, I was very mistaken.

There were massive delays almost immediately in carrying out the works, whereby my family and I had to stay in temporary accommodation. Mr Remi Matuzas continually asked for money, supposedly as per the stage payment schedule. Initially we continued to pay the money demanded until we became suspicious.

It then transpired that the balance of monies left owing on the project would in no way cover the outstanding works left to complete on the house. We explained this to Mr Matuzas with reference to the contract that we had all signed. He responded by effectively stopping work on the project (He would send just one labourer to the house) so we were left with a building site, which was barely habitable for my family to live in. Mr Matuzas claimed that the house was finished apart from some minor works when in fact it cost me over £60,000 to finish the works. He claimed that we had building regulation approval on the whole house which we did not.

The majority of work he did was substandard which proved in one major way to be very lucky for us.

The plumbing in the bathroom, that he had installed, leaked almost immediately with sewage running down into our kitchen. In taking the ceiling down below the bathroom to fix this, the plumber discovered that B Lofts had unnecessarily cut huge holes in the ceiling joists when installing some steel beams.

We were advised that this had badly damaged the property’s structural integrity and the bathroom floor, above the kitchen, was at risk of collapse, which could have caused serious injury or worse to me and my family. We had to replace most of the kitchen ceiling, installing some new joists and making the rest safe with steel braces, re-doing the pipework, lighting electrics, plaster boarding, plastering and decorating.

We took B Lofts to Court and won a County Court Judgement against them. We were told by our solicitors that we would incur large amounts of legal fees and the likelihood of getting any moneyback from the company run by Mr Matuzas was slim. Our lawyers were correct but we felt from a moral point of view we should do this to try and warn other people of what had happened so that others might not make the mistakes we did when dealing with Mr Matuzas

He liquidated the company so we have received no money whatsoever.
We have since discovered several other companies connected with Mr Remi Matuzas that have been dissolved or liquidated over the last few years:

Berkeley Bespoke Interiors: Dissolved
Bespoke Fit Out Ltd: Dissolved
Bespoke Joinery Ltd: Name Changed (was B Lofts)
Berkeley Lofts & Extensions Ltd: Liquidated (after name change)
Berkeley Sash Windows Ltd: Dissolved

We now believe that the only companies Mr Remi (Remigijus) Matuzas is involved in are listed below but we would urge people thinking of having any building work done to check Companies Houserecords and take legal advice if they are unsure about dealing with any of the companies.

B Interiors Ltd: Active
B Investments Ltd: Active

Warning: As a result of our own terrible experience, we do not recommend that you enter into contract with any company in which Mr Remi Matuzas is a named director at Companies House, B INTERIORS LIMITED (09812933), B INVESTMENTS LIMITED (09810931) NOTE different company names appear for google searches and the company website that Mr Matuzas uses is different from the legal entity name. The web-display company names currently include B-interiors.co.uk, B Interiors, B-Interiors. We have to keep re-posting reviews because they keep disappearing.

We strongly advise taking LEGAL ADVICE BEFORE SIGNING ANY CONTRACT. We would advise referring your solicitor to this review for details.

We terminated our contract with Remi Matuzas’ company B-Lofts and Extensions Ltd in January 2018. B-Lofts failed to complete our house renovation with reasonable care and skill and left us with a long and expensive list of defects to correct and works to complete.

We received a County Court Judgement against B-Lofts and Extensions and we were still working our way through the courts to agree the quantum when the company went into liquidation.(Prior to liquidation Mr Matuzas changed the name of B-Lofts and Extensions to BESPOKE JOINERY & FURNITURE LIMITED (09705621)). We refer you to the Companies house filing for Bespoke Joinery for details. We did not receive a single penny of the settlement agreed by the liquidators because there was no money left in the company.

The company liquidators agreed a settlement for £17000 owing to us. Mr Matuzas has voluntarily liquidated the company leaving around £50K in debts to the Inland Revenue, his accountants and us.

We have had to spend at least an additional £50K carrying out the contracted works which B-Lofts failed to complete but limited our claim and resulting settlement in the interests of limiting our substantial legal fees.

B-lofts left us in breach of planning, electric safe, building control and Thames Water regulations. We spent a year under planning enforcement at risk of having to demolish the extension that they built because it breached planning regulations due to use of incorrect materials. During remedial works, we found that due to substandard workmanship in which ceiling joists were cut through, our kitchen ceiling, with the bath above it, had been at significant risk of collapse. Defects include but are not limited to; incorrectly fitted wooden floor - now lifting, no drainage for rainwater, incorrect sewerage waste works, leaking plumbing, wrong-sized coping stones for flat roof causing extensive leaks in the ground floor extension, re-fitting inoperable heating thermostat, non-compliant fitting of some electric sockets, kitchen units fitted leaving too small a gap for the planned integrated dishwasher.

We continue to have to correct defects including a badly leaking roof. We have NO guarantees on any of the works. Mr Matuzas withheld the name of the double glazing manufacturer making it impossible to carry out some remedial works because we cannot buy the correct replacement parts.

From the moment we signed the contract, most of our interactions with Mr Matuzas involved him asking us for more and more money and him trying to refuse to do a significant amount of the work he was contracted to do. It was a draining continual 7 month argument in which he made little attempt to complete the specified works. Everything was too much trouble and everything that went wrong was ‘our fault’. On one occasion, we came outside our house and found he had employed primary school aged traveller children, clearly truant from school, to clear up his rubbish.

We would recommend searching Mr Matuzas’ listings on Companies House. You can read an ever growing list of his activities involving; opening and closing companies, changing their names and failure to post accounts in time.

It has been a horrendous experience and we would not like anyone else to go through what we have been through.

B Interiors in my view is a professional Building company. Remi has guided us through our refurb and has been very directive and practical in his advice to us. His team is very good and work is a very respectful manner. The previous negative reviews do any make any sense and we would recommend B Interiors from our experience.
