Unfortunately a simple trip to a local shop on a lovely day gone wrong.

Went in to co-op after a long day to purchase two Elk Warnings. Got them out the fridge and put them on a stand next to me so I could get my phone that had traveled to the bottom of my bag. It took me a while and I noticed a staff member looking at me suspiciously. Although I shot him back a defensive look, I made an attempt to move forward into his line of view so he could see I was simply rifling through my bag. I understand that they have to be very cautious but he kept on staring at me in disdain as if I was a terrorist or modern day criminal.

I found my phone but also noticed Echo falls summer wines were on offer so I considered those. I accept that I was a bit windswept so my hair was everywhere but despite that I believe I was decently dressed in a leather jacket and a summer dress. I would hate to think that in 2017 my black skin had anything to do with it.

I didn't mind the lovely cashier lady asking for ID as it's her job. I didn't mind the Security officer asking to check my bag as it was his job. He was also very polite about it and I know I had not done anything wrong.

The main problem I had was the man with the beard persistently staring at me like I had committed murder and potentially gossiping to other customers as if I was a criminal.

Regular customer of Co-op off Store street in central London and was excited that their was one closer to home - Oh well.

STRONG need for staff training there. Just report it to security and carry on. All other staff members were lovely.

I feel this supermarket has an undeserved rating. It has a good selection of fruit and veg and the staff always help me with any issues I have. The co-op card gives good benefits and the shop is always open till late.

One of the best grocery stores in Kentish Town. It's clean, the shelves are well stocked, the hours are convenient, and it's the ONLY large grocery selling organic skim milk.
I come here quite often, and I like it.
It's a good shop.
I notice many of the 1-star reviews are from people who have not reviewed many other places. Whereas all the local guides who have written many proper reviews give 4 and 5 stars.

I have had a very bad experience in the Coop on Kentish Town Road.
The fruit (peaches and others) were fully exposed to the sun and had started to rot inside the packaging.
To add insult to injury, there were several fat flies around the shop.
I just wondered who clean this store is kept. I shall refrain to do any shopping there in future

The manager or assistant manager named Asif needs to know what he's doing. I went there to collect the order that was ordered with my friend's name today. I gave the order no. and showed my ID to him, keeping social distancing . But he insisted I needed to have my friend's ID. I explained to him that the collection email clearly said it only required order no. and my ID, not my friend's ID. Then, he asked me to show that email coming closer to me, obviously breaking the Government social distancing rule and touching my phone. I am sure the store CCTV can prove it if they have one. Seems like he needs more training. If he knew how to do his job properly, it wouldn't have happened. So very disappointed!

Good location but compared to all other grocery stores around (lidl, tesco, iceland), incredibly expensive so there is no point to shop there as everything is almost 50% higher price (e.g. brunch bars cost in all shops nearby 1£ but 1.85£ here, cottage cheese in other shop 300g costs 70p, here 250g costs 1.30£). Its clean and good location but because of prices, I would not recommend.

Lacking fresh herbs.. no free range chicken whatsover.. the meat they only display 1 of each cut so you have to get the only one on display so once again no choice. security guard follows ypu around which is weird considering I have been shopping there for over 5 years..

I use Paypoint Subscription to pay for my daily copy of the Guardian/Observer. I am grateful that the Co-op chain participates. But the Kentish Town Branch has a reoccurring problem with Paypoint which is very inconvenient as no one else in the area participates in the Paypoint Scheme!
